Description:

There was so much enthusiasm and we had so much fun that I am going to host another one!

This is a swap for people to send out naked mail. Naked mail is something that is mailed without being in an envelope or box. To play in this swap you need to get something from the dollar store or the Dollar Spot at Target that is sturdy enough to withstand going through the postal system! This is something to drive the PO crazy, and is possible! There are no rules against it. The swap rules are this: Newbies are welcome with well completed profiles, seasoned swappers with a rating of 4.7 is required with no recent 1s are allowed. (unless you have an unfair rating, please PM me, and we'll talk about it) Remember, swapping is on the honor system, you are expected to send your swap out, we want everyone to have fun and to play fair.

Sorry to my Intl friends, but this is US only because I don't know the postal regulations in other countries.

YAY! YAY! YAY! and did I say YAY!

I am so happy...I can't wait to do this again. I just send my best friend [who happens to be my MIL] a set of funnels naked because she loved what I received / sent in the last swap.

I am putting it on the Watchlist until it is closer to March 2, but you can ABSOLUTELY count me in!

MommyKnows 02/16/2009 #

me too ... I watchlist about all of my swaps until the sign up date ... if something comes up I don't have to drop out at the last minute ... and if a "quickie" swap comes up I am not at my limit... I'll be signing up at the end ... thanks

creationsbysamantha 02/16/2009 #

ok, what would you send~sorry to ask a dumb question? It sound fun just not exactly sure what this is??? Forgive the silly ?

Susi 02/16/2009 #

@reationsbysamantha ..you can send anything you want from the dollar store or that costs one dollar. Just make sure it's strong enough to go thru the postal system. All you have to do is put on and address label, and send it on your way. If one postal worker won't accept it, go to another, or to another PO. I sent an apple shaped cutting board with a pack of post it notes taped on in the last swap, and I just recieved a children's bouncing ball in the mail yesterday! BTW, it's not a silly question... sending naked mail is a different concept!

twobluecrows 02/17/2009 #

creationsbysamantha --I sent out a soft rubber baby piggy bank, and received a realistic looking plastic apple. In another swap I made and sent out a wooden cut out Swedish Goat about 10" high and wide. Anything you can stick a label and postage on will go--they don';t like glass or anything that could break into the machines, or liquids though. One mail art group sent a piece of toast!

Susi 02/19/2009 #

I am glad to see the enthusiasm again in this swap, lets get more people playing so we can catch up with the last one, we had 32 then. Invite your friends, and let them know how much fun it is!

halfwaythere 02/23/2009 #

I think the first swap was one of the MOST positive swapping experiences I have had here. I had SO much fun, my postal worker got a huge kick out of it, heck even my teenager thought it was funny.

I sent a plastic cow and received a sewing kit [there was just enough room on the cows butt for the postage]

I'm so glad you started a new one!!!!! Thank you :)

emilynhr 02/24/2009 #

sounds awesome! can't wait!

emilynhr 02/24/2009 #

anyone have pics? this would be a fun flickr group :)

Susi 02/26/2009 #

I guess we could take pics and start a flickr group, if you'd set it up, because I haven't got a clue on how to do it! Speaking of what was sent out and recieved, I sent an apple shaped plastic cutting board and I taped some fun post it notes on it, and I recived a SpongeBob kids bouncy ball (that my baby doxie stole from me!)

Here I am!!

I LOVED the last one...and so everyone understands the type of things you can send I will give you a few examples of what I know was sent and received:

A plastic banana; A $1 silver type tray; a set of 3 funnels; a jar of peanut butter; the aforementioned rubber piggy bank....

and Susi I am laughing about your doxie...mine wanted the dang banana I received. No deal!!!!

Halfwaythere - the sentence "There was just enough room on the cows butt for postage" will stay with me for days to come. And always bring a smile...thank you!

I LOVE THIS SWAP!

twobluecrows... i was the recipient of the swedish goat and it still has a place of honor on my desk....i just love it!!!!

Susi 03/ 4/2009 #

My item is chosen too, and ready to mail. I also have a stand bye if anyone gets flaked on (which hopefully won't happen!).I am going to investigate flickr to see if I can figure out how to make a group, so we can get one started!

Susi 03/ 4/2009 #

I have started a flickr group for us to post our pictures of what we've received, you can also post what you're going to send if you'd like. I made the group for invitation only so that only those of us who have participated in these swaps can join. (at least I think I did!) anyway, the addy is

come join the group!

I'm in a little dilemma about mailing my Naked Mail--it's kind big and floppy, and if I fold it in half (it stores that way in my house now) and stick a little piece of tape on it, is it still naked? I labeled and stamped right on the item, so it's ready to go, but I don't know if I should really "let it all hang out" or put that little bit of tape to make it a little safer. (some postal worker may just do it anyway)

Opinions?

Cyn

moowee 03/ 4/2009 #

I have mine ready too. I can not wait to see what I get.

mouseybrat 03/ 7/2009 #

twobluecrows... i think that still quailifies as naked.

my item is going out today

SkippyMom 03/ 8/2009 #

Hi! Big lover of Naked Mail here!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Twobluecrows lost her son last week and will be away for an undetermined amount of time.

Please wish her well. She is a nice lady and a great swapper.

Have a great week y'all. Skippy

Susi 03/ 9/2009 #

I checked the group today, and I don't see any new members other than myself, but I may have people who are wanting to get in and can't. Since I am so new to flickr, I may need some help. I have one pic up and some comments made, but they aren't on the same page. Anyway, people who have flickr knowledge of experience, please let me know, so we can get this going!

As for my naked mail, I sent mine off the other day, plus I sent the same thing to Germany to see if it will get through. I think I sent a pretty safe item, but really fun, but I think my partner will like it! I know the postal clerks got a great laugh out of it!

CraftDiva4 03/ 9/2009 #

I just sent my swap item and it was so much fun. I had to wait in line at the post office for 20 min but everyone in line got a chuckle out of my item. A postal worker wasn't too happy that I told someone that you CAN send naked mail. Oh, well I'm already ready for the next one!

mouseybrat 03/13/2009 #

I got my naked mail today! BlueDragonfly sent me a neat red ice scraper! Came through in perfect condition.

SkippyMom 03/14/2009 #

I WIN for the FUNNIEST, COOLEST naked mail swap of all time....I am now the proud owner of An Easter Bunny MR. POTATO HEAD.....MOOWEE YOU ROCK!

[shaking my head] How in the world will I ever top this?...giggle

SkippyMom 03/14/2009 #

PS...I know this isn't a contest...what I meant was I felt like I won the lottery today - the Potato Head is so cooooool.

...and I thought an orange lint brush that smelled like Bounce fabric softener was da' bomb. I have to up my game :)

mouseybrat 03/14/2009 #

I just joined the flickr group and will post a photo in a day or two

mouseybrat 03/20/2009 #

resending to my partner since my first item has gone missing.

halfwaythere 03/21/2009 #

I just received mine today. Maybe because they are naked they take a bit longer?

This swap was Da Bomb! I got a giant toothbrush, GIANT! About a foot long. My grandson claimed it and has been walking around in hog heaven :)

I hope you do more!!!
