In the New Year's card in Japan, there is a zodiac for one year.

Twelve animals go around in order.

2021 is the year of cows. (2020 was the year of the mouse.)

This year, We Japanese will send poscards with a cow pattern and a a motif that represents a happy or congratulations of new year. (Some people send family photos, I don't really like this though.honestly,.... ha ha.)
