Description:

GREETINGS GEORGETTES,

The Ceilidh preparations are in full swing and in order to help the Turner family set up the barn for the social gathering, we might participate and make some bunting to add to the full ambience of the autumn season occasion.

THE SWAP = MINI BUNTING FOR A JOURNAL PAGE & letter. This is a simple swap, with only basic skills needed. The aim is to create an ambience of autum across a fine string. In this swap, we will be creating a mini bunting to stretch across the page to decorate your partners journal.

Choose any kind of illustrated paper, maybe an old book page distressed with paint or ink, or at least some design that gives the look of a Georgian country celebration. for example these might give you an inspired idea... https://wingsofwhimsy.wordpress.com/2016/05/21/sears-vintage-wallpaper-flags-no-169-176-mix-match/

There are several ways to achieve this end. Either punch out 1 inch circles for round, or semi-circle shaped burnting; or cut a 3/4 inch (2cm) by 2 inch (5cm) rectangle, fold in half to make a rough 1 inch square. If you want dangling triangles, clip off from the bottom centre point to top right corner and repeat on the left side. Take a length of fine thread or crochet cotton 8 - 10 inches long slip inside the fold of the paper shape, and glue the internal area completely, folding over the string at the fold, As in the sample above, spacing the triangles at intervals, you might cut it as a scallop it is up to you. Allow to dry.

Next, We will write a short letter to our partner, telling of a tradition in your family history of a gathering. Most of us now have a character, so using that character to voice this letter would be wonderful practice in getting used to helping them blend into the village. If you wish look in the Forum to see to whom you are writing, we have several threads that explain who owns which character.

Place your bunting flat into the folds of your letter for security. This is a POSTAL swap...

We have discovered it takes just over a month to receive from Australia to UK, so expect around that amount of time or a little longer. Do keep communication going and don't hesitate to make any queries as we are here for you.

Note from GHQ = If you are thinking I don't have a journal yet? Journal what journal? please consider purchasing one such as the suggestion from Lemonine of a watercolour paged book, or perhaps making one from scratch (see Forum "At Home...) ........ we use these journals to create a home to represent our characters ( Amberleigh map, calling cards, invitations, general interactions) a place for our paper crafted swaps, silhouettes, handwritten letters etc, from our partners character to our character, creating a little piece of "At Home"...ambience for us to peruse.
