Description:

I came across this video the other day and thought coffee staining would make interesting backgrounds and embellishments for ATCs. If you agree, please grab a cup of coffee and make a beautiful mess with me!

. . . . . . . .

  • Make one ATC for one partner using a background you have stained with coffee. Please feel free to experiment. The video is for inspiration only.

  • Your ATC must be the standard 2.5" X 3.5" size on a sturdy backing.

  • The methods and mediums you use to embellish your ATC are up to you. As always, though, please do not resort to simply slapping on a sticker or single piece of ephemera.

  • Please title your piece and write the title on the back along with your name and the date on which the ATC was created.

Have fun!

ETA: I've been playing with these backgrounds and have discovered that they can be fragile. I've had better results after spraying the surface with a workable fixative before doing anything else to it. This may not be necessary on all types of paper, though.

Question - can we use the free printable that the author of the video provides?

Thanks for asking that question. The fact that she offers printables went right over my head. My point was to experiment with coffee staining, so it's more of a process swap. Please stain the background yourself. I edited the first bullet point to reflect this.

I don't drink it, and my husband has quit for a few days, so I'll bow out of this one. Thanks for the answer :)
