Description:

Everyone needs an extra Potholder!

In this swap you will have one partner to make a potholder for. You can use any craft you want, crocheting, knitting, sewing or quilting. Hotpads may be circular, square, or rectangular, but should measure at least 8" across both ways.

Cotton is the best material for potholders as it won't melt at high temperatures.

If you choose to crochet or knit, please use cotton yarn and have 2 layers.

I like to use insulated batting (Insul-Bright) in the inside of all the potholders I make, but this is not a requirement, just a suggestion.

Potholders can be shipped easily flattened between two pieces of cardboard or posterboard. My favorite way I have seen someone ship was with half of a pocket folder. They just folded it over on itself and taped all the edges. As long as it's flat it will cost less postage to mail.

So no decorative ones? Made more for display than use?

Made for use. That's why I suggested using the insulated batting. You can choose how simple or fancy you wish to make it. I tried to find pictures showing each craft you can use, crochet, knitting, sewing, or quilting.
