Edited: More paper weight information has been added to the comment section below, and there are a few added words within the main write-up as well. It was edited per the first questions in the comments section.

This being an ā€œeverything paperā€ group, letā€™s share some of the pretty papers in our stash (think scrapbook/patterned papers). If youā€™re like me you have tons of it that you probably will never use up - - so why not share it and get some new ones in return to play with?

Every time Iā€™m at a craft store or looking a YouTube tutorial for card making, there seems to be another colorful pad or pack (or 2 or 3) that of course, I want. But then I think of how many pretty papers I already have and say no, you donā€™t need to buy any moreā€¦this happens to me a lot. Sometimes Iā€™m strong and sometimes Iā€™m not! LOL

The idea of this swap is that we donā€™t go out and buy new papers, but rather share papers from our existing stashes. They can be used for ATCs, card-making, journals, die-cutting/punching, etc.

Here are the particulars:

  • 2 partners
  • A minimum of 12-15 different ā€œroughly 4 inch x 6 inchā€ pretty papers (see last bullet item), single or double-sided [pretty being in the eyes of the sender and hopefully the receiver (see note below)]. By my scale, 15 papers + the envelope came to just shy of 2 ounces, so for $1.41 weā€™ll all receive 24-30 ā€œnew-to-usā€ pretty papers to play with. Yay! :)
  • The paper weight should be sturdier than standard printer/copy paper. The 24 - 48 sheet scrapbook/patterned paper pads would work well. See more information in comment section below.
  • By all means, feel free to send larger sized papers (please do not fold them) or even a bigger quantity (knowing that you may only get the minimum). If you chooser either of these options, please adjust your postage; we don't want paper coming w/postage due.

Note: If you donā€™t care for the papers you receive, you can always flip them over and see if they are double-sided. You might like one side over the other. If you donā€™t care for the design side on the single-sided papers, you can always use the white back side for stamping on, etc.

Most of my paper pads are about the thickness of regular printer paper- just normal paper. How thick exactly do they need to be?

Same with me. I have some of the big square books of paper I would love to share as the whole paper instead of cutting them. Would these work?

@PrettyAlice as to paper weight, I'm looking for pretty papers that are sturdier than regular printer or copy paper. According to one paper website I found, they describe it like this: Patterned paper weight varies, but a standard weight is 60-65 lbs (being a medium weight paper).

Personally, my 12x12 pads are brands as DCWV (Die Cuts with a View), American Crafts, and Crate and they range from 36 (double-sided) to 48 sheets (single-sided) and they are all medium weight.

I'm sure there are other brands out there that have comparable weight papers.

Hope this helps.

Just looked mine are 12x12 papers

As long as everyone sticks to medium weight papers, what you share could come from 12x12 pads, 6x6 pads, or even single sheets.

sorry Beth - I don't have any medium weight papers and I can't afford to purchase any right now.

That's ok. I'm sure I'll host other swaps for you to join. šŸ™‚

I LOVE swaps like this. I'll have a pile of 4"x6" papers to use--ready cut--for ATC's or 4x4 journal pages. What a great idea and I'm glad we're sending more than a couple designs.
