Description:

I have been interested in origami ever since the third grade when a lady from Japan came to our class and taught us how to have an authentic tea ceremony and fold paper cranes. It is such a beautiful artform but I have never taken the time to learn how to fold anything else.

So, I propose an origami swap . . .

1)Find a web site (or book) with a complete and clear set of instructions on how to make something (anything!) out of origami. Print the website off 3 times! The instructions should be clear enough that ANYBODY can follow and understand so review the instructions and make your own notes to clarify, if need be. I want people to have success with this!

2)Include a completed sample so that your partners can see what your paper folding project looks like.

This swap is simple enough that you can participate even if you have never HEARD of origami (paperfolding)! There are TONS of sources on the internet and in books - all you have to do is print something off and make sure it is easy to understand!

Now for the "Red Tape" . . . This is an International Swap. Typical Rules Apply. Newbies can join IF they have completed profiles and email me personally. Members must have a rating of 4.0 with no "no sends" to participate unless you contact me directly to explain. For obvious reasons I reserve the right to ban anybody I think might flake.

Happy Paper Folding, EvERyBOdy!

Hi, I just wanted to point out that I edited this swap to make it more appealing for people to join. It's still the same swap, but I think I was unclear about how easy this swap is... The only real change I made is that I changed the number of partners. No point in having several partners if nobody joins the swap! :) Please bear with me, this is my first time hosting a swap on swap bot. Thanks! And I'm looking forward to swapping with you!

TexasQuilter1--I think this'll be a great swap; I'm looking forward to it!

I think this will be a fun swap too! I'm surprised more people here aren't interested in Origami - since people seem to be very interested in other paper crafts. Maybe people are shy to sign up because I'm fairly new to Swap Bot (but not to swapping) and haven't been rated for most of the swaps I've completed so far. I'll probably try hosting this swap again in a few months and see if that's the case. I am so looking forward to swapping with you! :)

Hi Everybody, Please notice that I have extended the sign up date by three days. This is because something in my family has come up and I will need to be out of town for those days. I have also extended the length of time you have to send so that everybody has ample time to get something into the mail!

I hope this doesn't inconvenience anybody. I don't think it will! If it does, please let me know!

AJ

Hi Everybody, I just wanted to let you all know that I will be offline for a few days due to a family situation, but I will be back just before the swap begins. If there are any concerns, feel free to email me, but I will not be able to get back to you over the next several days! In the meantime, please make sure that you clear up any "no sends" if you have any. Thanks for understanding!

Hi again! I'm back in town now. There were a few inquiries about this swap in my email box and I think I have replied to them all. So if you haven't heard back from me please email again. It's almost time for this swap to start - I'm so excited! :)

Yayyy! I'll be sending mine out over the weekend!

TexasQuilter1 04/20/2007 #

Well, I thought I was fast in getting my envelopes ready to go yesterday but by the time I clicked "sent" I noticed 3 other people had already sent theirs! I think this is going to be a great swap! :)

beckra 04/23/2007 #

Mine are on their way to TexasQuilter1, Pinkie, and Leeloo35!

Hello Everybody, I just wanted to pop in and say that I am so thoroughly impressed with the packages I have received in this swap. I intended this to be a simple and easy swap but I can see that the people who sent packages to me really put a lot of thought and effort into what was sent.

As far as I can tell, this swap seems to be going really well. Would you all be interested in a Round #2? Do you have suggestions to make it better?

Just a reminder, the only thing that it is necessary to send for this swap is a set of instructions and a finished model. Anything beyond that makes you an extra-special swapper. :)

beckra 04/29/2007 #
