Description:

If you're like me, you looooove a good bargain and are always looking for deals in the dollar stores. Everyone has, I'm sure, shopped there at least once and found a little treasure that you couldn't pass up. For me, it was the Edward Scissorhands playing cards, or the adorable Hello Kitty lollipops I bought for all my friends.

So, for this swap you will get one partner each, for whom you will get the excuse to go on a mini dollar store shopping spree for. Spend at least $10, and try to get 9 or 10 items. Items can include candles, incense, candy, jewelry, perfume, or whatever else you can find. You may want to ask your partner if they need anything, or what they may want.

I also thought it would be a neat idea to gift wrap all your items, so your partner will be surprised opening their new gifts. Dollar stores usually have a nice selection of wrapping paper, so grab some while you're there.:c)

Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. Other members who have a history of not completing their swaps need not apply. You should also be a highly rated Swap-Bot member to participate.

This is an international swap, as I was just informed there are different versions of dollar stores all around the world.:c)

This is a great swap idea, as I am on one that is currently open. I was going to join this one, too, but notice "ratings aren't that important". I respectfully disagree...Ratings do help to let us know who is sending their swaps and who is not. I'd much rather join a swap where a high rating is expected and a certain number of swaps performed first, rather than join one where just anybody can sign up. "Swapper beware!" in that case.

Good luck on your swap, and I hope you have great success with it. It really is a great swap idea.

Just to help out for future dollar store swaps, in the UK there are shops called 99p stores, or Poundland to name just two.

butterflykisses 03/ 9/2007 #

I agree with KarlaKC on this one. Ratings should be important as they are a good key to weeding out the bad swappers. Those with a low rating tend to send low quality swaps that do not meet the requirements or they tend to not send anything at all. I am currently hosting another Dollar Store swap ( that has already closed ) and knowing that my participants would be spending a good deal of money on the swap and the shipping, I did everything in my power to make sure everyone who signed up had good ratings and very few no sends. I would have loved to participate in another dollar store swap, but I don't want to take the chances of being paired with someone who may not send me a thing.

I wish you much luck on this swap! Just make sure you're looking out for your participants, they will thank you for it in the end!

SheriFaerie 03/ 9/2007 #

You both can still sign up if you are still interested, because the swap will be open for a while, and I've changed the "ratings aren't that important" (my mistake) so anyone with low ratings will not apply. So far, it looks like everyone who has signed up is a good swapper. In fact, one of them is Kimmie, my pen-pal, and I KNOW she is an excellent swapper.:c)

Heather--thanks for letting me know that. I wasn't sure. This is now an international swap, if you'd like to sign up, as well.;c)

Thank you for allowing newbies, I love the Dollar Store swaps, it is one of my favorite places to shop for things like stocking stuffers. And I like getting all kinds of little thinga ma jigs!!! I just completed a similar hosted by Butterfly Kisses.

I just had the wonderful opportunity to participate in my very first swap since finding out about this website which was the Easter chocolate swap! I really enjoyed shopping and sending out my package which was right away as I am not a last minute person. LOL! I love shopping at the dollar store as you never know what new treasures are waiting for you. Looking forward to this swap and cannot wait to start shopping for it!

glorim 03/14/2007 #

Have any of you also checked out the great selection of dollar items at your local Target stores? I love it when they add new items which is about every 6-8 weeks.

keroleen73 03/15/2007 #

On my last holiday in the States I picked up some great $1 items at Michael's - some magnets and a really cute soap.

This weekend I had been doing some errands around town when I came across a brand new dollar store that had opened up not too far from my home. I was so excited that of course I had to stop and found some great ideas for the swap! I cannot wait to get my partner name so I can start shopping. LOL!

SheriFaerie 03/18/2007 #

The sign up and send out dates have changed! I'm really excited about this swap, and want to get it started!:cD

glorim 03/19/2007 #

Thanks Sheri! So glad to see that you revised the dates as I am anxious to get my partner's name real soon as this is going to be a great swap!

Enjoy your day everyone!

Hi Sheri,

I can't wait for this swap...Cause a Dollar Tree just opened in Bismarck and I need an excuse to make Steve stop on the way home from Wal-Mart! LOL!!!

user6684 03/24/2007 #

I am so excited for this swap! In australia we have tons of dollar stores (well, actually $2 stores) and I always have a look and come out with some goodies.

I love - body spray/perfume, candy, makeup, skincare items, bath/shower stuff and so much more! Fun, girly stuff. Not so much cheap unusable knick-knacks though.

I am a bargain hunter lol, and my partner will be spoilt with australian goodies.

glorim 03/26/2007 #

Dollar Tree is great! They just opened a new one closer to my house and ever since it has opened, I have made an excuse to go at least once a week. LOL! They seem to always get some new merchandise in from the last visit to the store.

jannikinz 03/26/2007 #

I would jump at participating in a swap like this..BUT...am still waiting for my package on the other swap..if it arrives within a day or two, I will reconsider. $2 shops in Aust are fun fun fun.

glorim 04/ 2/2007 #

Hi Kimmie, I mailed out your package yesterday (Yes on Sunday as there is a post office believe it or not inside our local convenience store that is open on Sunday). I had alot of fun shopping for you so please let me know once you have received it.

PS I was born and raised in NJ so I had been to the Jersey Shore since I was little and sure do miss it since living out here in Vegas!

SheriFaerie 04/ 3/2007 #

Hey AeroChik! Just wanted to let you know I have this swap all boxed up and ready to go priority mail to you a.s.a.p.!! I had so much fun shopping for this swap, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!;cD

SheriFaerie 04/10/2007 #

Theresa! I received your swap the other day and it was WONDERFUL!!! Thanks so much for everything, I love it all soooo much. I hope you enjoyed the matchbox swap!!:cD I couldn't stop adding extra things to it, so you got a rather large one. Let me know what you thought!

beegirl 04/12/2007 #

I'm still waiting for it and I am so curious! I'll let you know when arrives.....and I'm so happy you liked mine! It's been real fun! ^^

keroleen73 04/13/2007 #

I might send out my swap a few days late as I have just found out that it costs the same to post 200g as it costs to mail 500g - I'm trying to get some extra bit'n bobs to make my package a wee bit heavier... I hope my partner Marcia doesn't mind!

Goddess 04/15/2007 #

My swap is going to be a few days late being sent out. I've had money problems lately so it's made things difficult.

marcia1977 04/17/2007 #

Beegirl,

Yours is on its way from Pennsylvania, USA . I am sorry I did not message you as soon as I sent it to let you know.

Marcia

beegirl 04/18/2007 #

Don't worry Marcia! :) I'll let you know as soon as it arrives! :) thanks a lot!!!

keroleen73 04/19/2007 #
