Welcome to September! To get in step for the fall, I thought we could try to do 1,000 of something this month. You pick. Sit-ups. Push-ups. Seconds planking all month. Seconds walking each day. Minutes biking all month. It can be one of these or none of them. Maybe try that activity you've been avoiding. You probably have a good idea of what will push you or not. For some of us, more physical activity is actually not what we need. Committing to 1,000 minutes of mental wellness or relational investment could be tougher than we think. We might be avoiding good rest, thoughtful reflection / processing (like journaling or meditating), or we need intentional time with a loved one. If this paragraph is striking a cord, give yourself permission to do it. (If you're watching this swap, don't wait until September to do it. I'll gladly do a private swap with you in advance.) Log each day's progress. Tell your partner what your 1,000 goal is this month. How did you work towards your goal each day? Did anyone join you? Around the middle of the month (September 13-17th), send a Swap-Bot message to your partner and check in. How have the past couple weeks been? Are you close to 500? Have you noticed any differences? What changes might you need to implement these next two weeks to invest in your health? At the end of the month, send your partner your tracking log and at least a few sentences about the swap experience. Also include a flat surprise such as a postcard, notecard, tea, etc. Check your partner's profile for ideas and avoid allergies, but this is sender's choice. In sum: Hope we all enjoy this and come back next month! Let me know if you have any questions. Looking Ahead |
