Description: | |
Lots of places in this world have no postal address - your favourite picnic spot in the park, for example. And some places have a postal address that covers a huge area - an entire university campus, for example. You could use GPS coordinates to identify such spots more precisely, but who can remember those? Another possibility is to use 3 word address such as "admiration.itself.illusionist", the edge of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. 3 words are easier to remember than something like "36.012222, -113.811111". The Swap: What is the 3 word address for a location that has meaning to you, such as your own front door, your favourite picnic spot, the place where you proposed to your sweetheart, a place with a great view, your off-the-beaten-path vacation cabin, or anything else? Use the what3words map at https://map.what3words.com/ to find out, or the what3words app for iOS or Android. (Switch to Satellite View if needed for places that aren't on or close to a named road, or to get the right entrance of a building.) Once you have the 3 word address for your chosen place, send it in an email to your swap partners with a short description of what that place is! Optional: include a picture of that place. You can also send 3 word addresses for more than one place if you want. Note: since a 3 word address identifies a spot on Earth pretty specifically, you may not want to use your front door's 3 word address if you use a PO Box rather than a street address for swap-bot; and please don't use the 3 word address of another person's home without their permission. Rating: 4.90 and above, unrated users allowed. I will still be checking profiles before assigning partners and reserve the right to ban anyone for any or no reason. (Disclaimer: I don't work for what3words nor do they pay me. I just think this is an interesting idea and wanted to tell some people about it.) |
