Description:

The April 2017 Fandom in a Mini Bag swap is Beatrix Potter.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, stories, adaptations, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 5 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged. (PLEASE try to make it look full). Different types of items means 5 ATCs, 3 pins, 2 postcards would be 10 items but only 3 different types. The swap requirement is for 5 different types in a bag.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, bookmarks, address labels, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fanfic drabbles/ficlets, etc.

More specific ideas: garden decorations, mini-zine of wisdom from the characters, needlepoint, coloring pages, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to. Also, if you're sending internationally, make sure to not break any laws by sending gardening items like seeds.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 quart (AT LEAST 8.5inches by 7 inches or 21.5cm by 18cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a quart in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month and please send by the deadline (March 31)

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! Flakers will be sent to bed without any supper.

I grew up with Beatrix Potter's stories. Some of them scared me a little bit as a child (Jeremy Fisher nearly being eaten, Squirrel Nutkin losing his tail!) but they're still charming. I love her rabbits especially. And her drawings. When I went to England for a week, I specifically scheduled a few days in the Lake District so I could see her house and lands. I think her preservation efforts were most admirable.

Peter Rabbit was one of the "cautionary" tales my parents' read to us - you know, mind your parents, don't go where you're not supposed to go, etc. So, of course, I love anything about that tale. Fact is, I'm not sure I knew there were others until I was much older.
I love all the tales involving the cousins, Benjamin Bunny and Peter Rabbit. And the tales about cats are fun, like The Pie and the Patty-Pan, and Tom Kitten. But my favorite stories/characters are Ginger and Pickles, Mrs. Tittlemouse, Mr. Tod the fox (I love how he becomes the rabbits' ally!), Timmy Tiptoes, and the story of Johnny Townmouse and Timmy Willie (the grass is always greener...). I love the Tale of Jemima Puddleduck, but it is so vary sad that the farmer is planning on duck dinner! Really anything would be treasured. Handmade anything (I don't wear much jewelry or earrings, but I have some nice pendants/charms for necklaces and I occasionally wear pins). Games, books, animals. Make up a "new" tale using Potter's characters. I love the idea of a mini-zine relating to the characters - or maybe a "bio" of Beatrix - if that's one of your crafts. I really will love anything - I'm very easy to please!
