Based in ridiculousness, and on the principle that humor is a coping strategy, anyone is of course welcome to join in this politically-inspired swap series. Anyone remember the personality identification card deck of the Iraq invasion of 2003? GASP now presents Not Playing With a Full Deck. Each swap will be for one altered playing card of beings, events, entities, et cetera that are apparent political casualties of 2017. Maybe we'll even play for a full deck, who knows? I will plan to cover multiple countries and political spectra, but as I am based in the United States I may be a bit biased towards US topics without your help! NPWAFD #1: Alter a playing card, any one from any deck of standard-size cards. You may choose to celebrate either DIPPIN' DOTS, an ice cream product served at many American sporting events, made in Kentucky and apparent source of irritation to newly-installed White House press secretary "alternative facts" Sean Spicer --- OR -- you may choose the unfortunate newly-discovered moth species NEOPALPA DONALDTRUMPI, whose territory traverses the US-Mexico border and who apparently would feel challenged while changing in the male moth locker room. The first political casualties of 2017, folks -- who do you vote for? Will Dippin' Dots or will the moth with the bouffant scale-over rise back first? You decide. The swap: one altered playing card of any suit or number featuring either Neopalpa donaldtrumpi OR Dippin' Dots, sent to one partner. I will come back from bankruptcy to invite you to a social event, or alternatively spin in circles on a leaf for you should you not receive a swap. Next up: I need stories out of Europe, I think. French elections coming up in April. |
