In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, doorways, passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. It is conventionally thought that the month of January is named for Janus. Your challenge: Make a collage postcard with a Janus head on it, one face pointing toward the left and one pointing toward the right. Feel free to add other media, but the Janus faces should be collage. This swap is sender's choice, which means you don't have to look at your partner's profile: you can start now. Make any size of postcard from 4" x 6" on up, so long as you have the correct postage on it. Mail it naked please. Be sure to write the name of the swap and your swapbot name on your postcard so you can get rated. And once you receive your postcard, remember to rate! That's a big part of the fun of being at swapbot. Have fun making something wonderful! Happy New Year! EDIT on 12/29: As I'm pondering over how to make my collage, I realize that I should make this clear: Neither your Janus faces nor the rest of the collage needs to have anything to do do with the past or the future. They can just be faces; and the overall card can be absurd, dada, surrealist, whatever. =smile= |
