Description:

All of the previous rounds have been well received, so here is another! In this swap, you will send your partner one Blackout poem that you have created.

What is a Blackout poem you ask? Here is the basic idea of what you do to create one: you take any piece of literature (book page, newspaper clipping, page from a magazine, etc.) and then you go through and underline the words you want to create a phrase or a sentence or two. Draw boxes around those words, and then with a Sharpie or other marker you color on them so you can only read the words you want. NOTE: The "poem" isn't usually the actual length of a poem, but a few sentences at most.

If you're still unsure of what to do, search #blackoutpoetry on Instagram or Pinterest, do a Google image search or go to http://www.makeblackoutpoetry.com/

No excessive 1s or 3s, I DO CHECK! As Swap Coordinator, I reserve the right to ban anyone that I find suspicious or that I believe may not follow through on their obligations for the swap. I have already been flaked twice in this series, but I am ready to try it again. Happy Swapping!

Is it OK to photocopy a bookpage for this? I don't have any english text to use for this besides books that I dont want to ruin, since I'm not in England/US.

@Sammoning I can send you some, if you like. Should be there in no time from Germany to the Netherlands. :-)

Amandalee 06/14/2016 #

Can we use black paint instead of sharpie? Thank You :)

@Sammoning you may photocopy or print out a book page from the internet. I wouldn't want you to ruin any books you enjoy! I usually end up using newpapers/magazine clippings but whatever English text you can find works.

@Amandalee I answered your PM, but for anyone else who may have the same question: you may use any medium such as sharpie, markers, paint, etc. as long as it covers up the wording. Feel free to get creative with it!

Good questions everyone! :-)

So far we have swappers from the US, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, and Canada! How fun!
