Description:

If you haven't created a masterboard yet, you're really missing out. A masterboard is a large piece of artwork, commonly made using multiple mediums, that is then dissected into smaller artworks, such as postcards and ATCs.

For this swap, we will be making masterboard backgrounds for our partners to use/finish as they wish.

Nitty-Gritty

  • start with 2 pieces of 8.5" x 11" cardstock or heavier weight paper.
  • artfully cover one side of the papers using at least 5 different mediums/techniques -- EXAMPLE: collage, acrylic paint wash, pencil doodles, ink stamping, spray paint. Colors, mediums, style are all sender's choice.
  • when you're finished, cut the pieces in half. You will be left with two 5.5" x 8.5" sections of each masterboard. Send two different sections to each of your two partners.

Send your masterboard sections to your partners in envelopes with notes about what went in to the creation of the backgrounds.

For the mediums that I would use bristol board would work much better. Card stock wouldn't be heavy enough to withstand printmaking with a second layer of modeling paste. Would this be acceptable, to use bristol board?

Oh, Nevemrmind! I reread the description and see that heavier weight paper is acceptable! My bad... sorry!

I used cardstock but it's way to flimsy, ugh! I'm going tonight to get some bristol or something heavier. I loved my first two though!
