Hello everyone!! I know I'm fairly new, but I've been swapping successfully for a little over a month now. After a day's work it's been so nice to come home (same building as gramsbuttonbox by the way!) to a mailbox of postcard and notecards. I love it!! I promise to send and rate on time!

We will only have the opportunity to rate our FIRST partner's swap, of course. I do not want this swap to still be going next winter, and so with six of us, all promising to send them onward WITHIN eight days, we should have enough time to post here that we received so-and-so's journal, decorate it to 1/6th of our heart's content, send it on its merry way, and YES, come back here, to post that we sent it on its way!

And YES, I also commit to do these things on time.

If you have not given me your phone number by private message, you MUST do it before I assign partners, or I will not be able to keep you in the swap.

We will each be working in each other's journals, and yes, will learn each other's real first names.

"What do we do if we have more than one journal?" maybe because someone finished working in one quicker, etc.

YES, you certainly may package them together, and send them off in one package. It will save on postage, and since you will always be sending to the same person, they can keep each other company on the trip!

Oh goodie--what a surprise to find out we can start swapping now, cuz I worked on mine last night (For you Chromia)! I'm wondering what the best way is to send these? shall I wrap it in brown paper first and then mail it? or use a bubble mailer? Grams/Mary.....what do you think?

MaryBeth, and everyone - if it is "unfold able" ( mine is) - a bubble envie should work...if it's a bit "foldable" (or even " bendable") or might get damaged in mailing, you might add a cut-up piece of sturdy board, (maybe a cereal box cut to size) to help...

Adding or wrapping it with bubble wrap or brown paper is a great idea, also

Sent my journal off to AZmom875 today!

How do we rate our partners? At the end?

I got LilyM's journal yesterday 4/8. Thanks LilyM; it's beautiful. I love the paper!

We will NOT be able to rate anyone but our FIRST partner...swapbot is not set up to rate more than one, unless you get all seven partners in a single swap, and have to send them seven journals (one to each partner...and you still could not rate them to send it onward, or even to return it to you.)

This swap is set up so that each person will work in EVERY journal and then agree to send them onward.

THAT is why you had to "sign" your name to commit to do that, before partners were assigned. If anyone would NOT have done that, they would have been removed from the list.

With seven people signed up, and EACH one having eight days max. to work on and agree to Mail each journal, this swap could go on for 56 days.

Yes, that's two months...I do expect EVERY swapper to maintain the level of enthusiasm for EACH journal that they had at the beginning!

As experienced swappers, hopefully the ratings are not as urgent as for newbies...with a smile and nod to MaryBeth...

You can already rate each other right now, if you'd like.

Keeping us informed, is more important than anything else. So yes, remember to post here every step along the way.

Even if you have sent a journal and are still waiting to receive one, and it's been a week, come and post....tell us you're having withdrawal, and NEED a journal to get your fingers and brain into!

I may not be the only one keeping track of these journals, and where they are...because most of us have not yet seen each other's journals, we don't know what theme or title each journal has...

Please, post WHOSE journal we are receiving and/or sending, by their swapping name, NOT their real name.

Yes, we will learn each other's real names, when we receive their journals, but like I wrote, I do NOT want extra personal info posted. If anyone wants their real name known by anyone reading these posts, it is up to them to do so, not the rest of the group. Thank you SO much.

Please, let's keep this as safe a place as possible.

Everyone's personal journal has begun its travels, some of us have already received and sent their second journals on their way.

As I've written before, it may be very likely that some of us might end up with two or three journals arriving in our mailboxes...

These CAN absolutely be kept together, and sent on their way, in a single box! Besides saving on postage, It will make the "keeping track" process easier also.

And Be sure if that happens, you keep us informed....tell us whose journals you receive, even if you already HAVE another!

And when you're have finished in ALL of them, and package them to mail, let us know EVERY journal you are sending. (Hope that makes sense)

That is so funny cause I almost posted that same thing late last night about somebody at the PO being up at 1 am handling your package, then I hit delete. I love to watch the tracking.

I received gramsbuttonbox's journal today from cynaemon. It occurred to me as I was opening up the slightly wet envelope that we are still experiencing some bouts of rain here and the mail man is a walker man and maybe we should be putting our journals in a ziploc to protect from the weather. I know I put one journal I recently sent in another swap in plastic, but I didn't with the first package I sent here. I would hate for all of our awesome work to get messed up from the rain. I will package the journals I receive in a plastic bag first before putting it in the shipping envelope. OR weather is wonky like that. :)

Rainbow, that's a GREAT idea...I used a plastic bubble envie to mail my journal, but this added bit of protection is a very good idea! Even wrapping and taping it in a walmart baggie would be ok.

LilyM -your idea might not be too bad, but it would involve a whole lot more work for the host. Because I've heard from several swappers who enjoyed my RR swaps years ago, I will be repeating it about every other month...and if you're are interested, I hope you might join us.

I put a LOT of time and effort in these RR swaps, and no, I would not be interested in taking on a project that would very possibly keep some excellent swappers from enjoying it.

I do not like private swaps, unless I set them up to give someone specific a chance to get signed up, and then opening it up to the public.

I think it would take away from the time I already spend on these.

If you'd like to host a private one, go ahead...

I just received 3 Journals in the mail today. Hope I can get them done and out in the 8 day period. One is for gramsbuttonbox , one is for Kaire Downin( RainbowRoseOr) and the last one is for Cynaemon. So fun!!!

My idea was just for this swap to give us all a chance to get rated for each book we work on. I do know it would mean more work for the hostess but when you look at the way we are doing it now we are working on 7 different books but only getting one rating. It would involve everyone signing up for all subsequent swaps to keep the same 7 persons in each private swap set up to keep the journals moving. I appreciate the effort you put into the swaps you create and just thought it would be nice to get rated on each book so I won't be creating any private one or multiple of a journal.

Lily, I'm sure the group would willingly give you a few day's reprieve...

And I understand, your thinking...the rating issue is a biggie, I suppose....truly, after years of swapping, it does not hit so high on my list od urgencies, whether I get rated or not.

And I know that is not true for everyone. I hope you will all stick around long enough to find the calmness in not being too concerned about it.

It might be difficult to get everyone on board, to commit to all the different swaps...but truly, if you would like to try something like that, go ahead. In the years I've been running this swap, both US and international, this is the swap that has worked the best for me. Maybe it's another reason I limit the group to "experienced" swappers, and no newbies who are eager to get their first ratings...

I remember when I was one...and yes, every rating mattered...

I am wondering LilyM, when the next journal will come to me? Have you sent one off to me?

it will be okay, and yes, acceptable for you to come HOME to find them, or if it's safer, that she wait to mail them to you, until your return. ("Safer" referring to, "would they be sitting in a rural outdoor mailbox?")

Hi, received chromia and AZmom's journal today from gramsbuttonbox. Will work on them this weekend.

Today, I got from Chromia, Lily M's Once upon a time Journal. I will work on this and do a mailing Monday.

I ordered from USPS.com padded Priority Flat rate envelopes. They envelopes are free, and free to order. I ordered 15. They have not arrived yet. But I mention this in case you would like to save on postage. I know these journals get heavy. You do need to set up an account which is also free.

I received the original journal from RainbowRose Oregon that LillyMsent me today. Excited to decorate it and play with it I'm not sure what I will do yet it's the weekend I'm sure I will come up with something!!!

One (of many) lesson I learned in the RR swaps before...

Please...when you send or receive a journal, please only post WHOSE journal it is. I already know who it is being sent to, and who you received it from.

As I wrote earlier, I might not be the only person keeping track, and if the posts contain all three names, (who you got it from, who you are sending it to, and whose journal it is) things can get awfully confusing.

I do so appreciate how eager and conscientious everyone is, but for this one part, keep it simple, please.

I am mailing Lily Ms, and Scrapladys Journal printed label and will be in the mail Monday Priority.

I realize that if you have not received or sent a journal in awhile, you might not think we don't want to hear from you! That is NOT true...we do want to know your are there, and that you are okay.

It is why I recommend that you do NOT click the "SENT" link, and keep it in your dashboard!

In fact, if you have already clicked it, you can easily "UN-click" it.

That is the reason I changed the deadline date to mail your swap. You won't get the reminder emails fro, swapbot, telling your to get your swap mailed. (Everyone promised to keep to the 8-day time frame, before the swap even began, so I'm not worried!

I do not have a journal in my possession; I realize that sending two in the same package may save on postage, but it really is hard to have two at a time and then wait for so long to get another! Grams, maybe we need another rule?!

ScrapLady, The "2 at a time" concept has never been a problem in the past.

The "rule" that should prevent a problem, is that we make certain that our names, and yes, our swap names, be written very clearly on the inside of the front or back cover.

Also, please posting only the name of whose journals we receive and send, NOT who it is from, or going to.

I do keep very concise records, without too much difficulty...and yes, My records are clear, I still only need to know where Lily's and yours are.

Please, pretty please, everyone....only post when your "send" info is "past tense"

Received Lily's and Scraplady's journal today! woohooo!!! I have family in town, they were so intrigued by these journals. Might be converting my mother in law to a swap-bot-er!

Oh Rainbow, that would be FUN! ScrapLady is my "real life" friend, that I brought into swapping, and she's been having lots of fun! In the other RR swap, a good friend of mine, brought her sister into the group!

As of this morning AZmom's journal is on its way. Will send Scraplady the tracking number.

TODAY in the mail I got 2 journals, gramsbuttonbox and Cynaemon. I think these are the last journals as Grandmasbuttonbox will be going home in 8 days. with of course Cynaemons

I am done, kinda sad, I agree. I am mailing home to Gramsbuttonbox her journal that has made the rounds, and with it will be Cynaemon's almost finished journal. I thought if I get it in the mail Saturday it has all weekend to travel to SD, but it might not get there til Tuesday. You never know with the PO. I sent the Tracking number, as I have this ready to go in Saturdays outgoing mail.

Sending RainbowRose's journal, to its "second to last" place, I will send tracking info via private msg,, as soon as I get home.
