Trying something a little different for this group – I hope you will all bear with me!

Within our group members we have a wonderful variety of beliefs and faiths, and I thought it would be nice to have a swap to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Slightly out of group theme, but let’s give it a go!

The Solstice this year is celebrated on the 22nd December, so I am setting send by date as 23rd November to give the post plenty of time!

We will send out partners six items, which are;-

  • A note explaining how you will be celebrating the Solstice (even if it is cuddled up on the sofa!)
  • A candle to provide light in the darkness. (can be scented, but doesn’t have to be – not just a plain tealight!)
  • An item of food for sharing with others – could be chocolate, savoury snacks such as nuts etc.
  • An item of greenery to bring the outside in – i.e. holly, ivy etc. (obviously if sending international it cannot be live – try and find a nice faux item)
  • A small gift – can be shop bought, or hand made.
  • Something to decorate your dwelling – a small ornament, garland etc. –think Solstice not Santa!

Any questions etc. comment below or PM me. Please note – this is a celebration of the Winter Solstice – not Christmas!!! I am running a separate Christmas swap Please try and make sure that the items you send don’t scream out Christmas!

what if my 'greenery' is brown because I might send one of the Digger Pine Cones? I have three that have been at my fireplace all year so they are bug-free and all the sap has been cleaned up as well. They stand about 6-8" tall and are that around and are native to California.

oh, would that be considered live?

If the greenery is brown that would be absolutely fine - by greenery I mean items like holly, ivy, mistletoe, trees etc. so pinecones would be totally fine.

Live is anything that is actually living - i.e. a plant etc. purely because customs won't allow living plants etc to be sent to a lot of international destinations.

Hope this helps!
