Description:

Let's play with making our own PC background, using wax paper resist this time.

Here is a really easy tutorial, but if you want to be more adventurous, you may use any other wax paper resist tutorial you like.

When done with your background, cut it into an appropriate PC size (4" x 6" is a common one) and securely adhere it to a sturdy backing for its travels through the postal system.

On the front, add a quote/saying of your choice (hand letter it or use a stamp or produce it digitally or use a rub-on - whatever works for you). Protection for the front of it is up to your judgment.

Write a note to your partner about your experience with this technique and send it off naked and stamped.

Have fun!

It looks really beautiful! I hope they sell spray ink in the hobbyshop :-)

The tutorial says you can use food colouring (or watercolours, and probably acrylics as well) mixed with water in a spray bottle - so no need to buy special inks unless you want to. (";)

I've made my own spray ink with Acrylic paint and alcohol. They work great. Here's a link: http://islandgirlstudio.blogspot.com/2013/02/diy-alcohol-ink-sprays.html

I'm looking forward to trying this technique. Always fun to learn new crafting...I just need to gather some sprayers...everyone have a great day!

I bought the waxpaper today and a bottle of green spray. I tried, but no pattern :-( only the drops from the spray. I don't know what went wrong. Perhaps I ironned too hot (cotton), or I ironned too long, or just not long enough. I tried serveral different papers, glossy and normal, but no pattern. Or perhaps the waxpaper was the wrong one :-(

Oh dear, that is totally frustrating! So sorry you went to all that trouble and expense, only to have to drop the swap. I certainly understand.

Sometimes these things happen no matter how hard we try. I want this to be a fun experience so, if anyone in the swap has trouble with this technique, please contact your partner and work out an acceptable alternative background technique to use.
