Description:

It's been a long time since we've done a Monday Morning Mailer. The idea is simple: every Monday, you mail something specific to your partner.

September has four Mondays. Each week, you'll send some writing and a little surprise. Here's the lineup:

Monday, Sept. 7: A flat surprise and an introductory note or letter (tell a bit about yourself) that includes a question to your partner about writing. You'll have until the end of the month to answer that question in one of your Monday missives.

Monday, Sept. 14: A piece of writing by you (whatever it is that you do or would like to share) and a note about the process of how it came to be or what you learned/experienced while writing it. Decorate this week's envelope in some way so it pops out letting your partner know it's happy mail time.

Monday, Sept. 21: State and answer the question your partner asked in the first Monday Mailer and send your partner a profile surprise. Feel free to send the person who sent you the question a copy of the answer.

Monday, Sept. 28: A sender's choice surprise and an article about writing/creativity/the creative process along with a note on why you selected it.

You have one week to sign up for this swap which is posted on Aug. 20. You can start your introductory letter now.

Mark the swap sent AFTER all four Monday Mailers have been posted -- not after you send the first one.

A NOTE ON THE WEEK 1 QUESTION How it works: Writer Sally will send a question to her partner Writer Jane. Writer Jane will state the question and answer it to her partner Writer Mary. Writer Jane can feel free to send Writer Sally a copy of the answer if she likes.

USA only to keep the mail moving in a timely manner. International officers, feel free to post a version for your country.

Questions? Post them below.

Partners are assigned. Remember: don't mark sent until after all four weeks have been mailed.

Let's get swapping!

All: I just realized that Monday September 7th is a holiday, which means no mail goes out. So feel free to mail your first letter on either the Saturday before or on Tuesday.

This is a Week 1 exception.

Do we have the same partner for all four weeks?

I'm not sure about the question in the first mailing -- the directions then say you have until the end of the month to answer -- Is this question something like "what's the longest thing you ever wrote?" and then i answer for myself later? Or do I ask my partner the qusetion? But she isn't sending to me ... Please clarify.

The last envelope has been dropped in the box for a.m. pickup out to my partner. Enjoy!
