Description:

The August 2015 Fandom in a Mini Bag swap is Back to the Future.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, books, movies, or any other preference you may have.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 5 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged. (PLEASE try to make it look full). Different types of items means 5 ATCs, 3 pins, 2 postcards would be 10 items but only 3 different types. The swap requirement is for 5 different types in a bag.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, bookmarks, address labels, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fanfic drabbles/ficlets, etc.

More specific ideas: license plate jewelry, mini flux capacitor, enchantment under the sea dance decorations, Darth Vadar from planet Vulcan zine, artifacts from the past or the future, clocks, mini hoverboard, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 quart (AT LEAST 8.5inches by 7 inches or 21.5cm by 18cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a quart in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of April and please send by the deadline (August 31)

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! Flakers will be sent back in time 10,000 years.

What are drabbles/ficlets?

KateKintail 07/21/2015 #

Drabbles and ficlets are short fanfiction stories. Drabbles are usually 100 words long but are sometimes strung together in a series. Ficlets are usually 100-1,000 words. But there's no hard & fast rules about length. http://fanlore.org/wiki/Ficlet

There really isn't anything I don't love about Back to the Future. I guess Marty and Doc are my favorite, oh, and the various dogs! But I love all three movies and how tightly written they all are--every detail is important. I saw the first movie when it came out with my parents at a drive-in movie theater and have loved them ever since.

The only things I have related to the fandom are a license plate I got at Universal Studios when I was a teenager and the LEGO set. Looking forward to seeing what creative and being overwhelmed by awesomely BTTF-related items!

I'm in total agreement with @KateKintail - Marty and Doc and the dogs are my favorites, too! I do think Biff is hilarious - I mean how many times can you get manure dumped on you, only to put yourself in a situation for it to happen again?

I love all the movies. Having said that, II is my least favorite (which isn't saying much, since I love it!), but you absolutely have to have it for the string to make sense. When the first one came out, I'm not sure what I was doing, but I didn't see it in the theatre. I should have because I was already the biggest Huey Lewis and the News fan in town (well, that's probably a large exaggeration!). And I love that Huey had a very tiny but fun part in the first movie. I also love the fun created by Marty's mom sort of falling for him, and the ensuing chaos! In III, I was pleased that Mary Steenburgen was set to play Clara - I've always been a fan of hers, one way or another - I loved her as Ginny Grainger in "One Magic Christmas!

I have absolutely nothing for this fandom already, so surprise me - the sky's the limit! I do have a sign above my writing desk though, a quote I made up a long time ago as writing inspiration. The sign says "Eighty-eight miles an hour and a bolt of lightning...time travel does exist!" So I'm game for anything!
