I created mine by cutting my base from some nice think cardboard. I cut the interior shapes into that same base piece, but you could add them later too if you wanted, though making it one piece keeps it nice and flat. Decorate your center for your snowglobe any way you'd like! Make sure to color the back as you will be able to see it :) Now take a piece of clear plastic (thick cellophane works good... I used a piece from the packaging that my origami paper came in... you could also use thick freezer bags or even that clear vinyl you can get at fabric stores and Walmart) It must be stiff plastic so that you can work with it. Run around the sides and top with the sewing machine to secure the pieces together. You could also do this before cutting it out to make it easier to work with. Now you put some glitter or snow inside the packet, slide your base in, making the bottom edge flush with the bottom edge of the plastic, and sew along the bottom to secure everything together! I put a little drop of superglue on the bottom corners to secure the thread ends. Viola! Snowglobe ATC! :D I hope everyone has fun making these! It might take some trial and error, but I think they are unique and fun! I think it would be fun to collect one from each state ;) Just like real snowglobes :) Please see your partners profile for theme ideas! But it is sender's choice!
Feel free to contact me with any questions! I forgot to say, this is an International swap! Shipping for something this small and light won't be that much more. And I think global swapping of art is the best! Hope this does not cause a problem for anyone already signed up! |
