Description:

I love to knit socks, but I'm always giving them away to others. I'd love to have someone knit me a pair of socks, and I imagine there are others out there that feel the same way.

This swap is to make a pair of hand-made socks for one partner. Please look at their profile and choose yarn that is in their color preference.

Since we all have different sized feet, participants will need to measure their foot length (heel to longest toe) and foot circumferance around the ball of your foot and post it below so their personal sock maker can make them a cozy pair of socks that fit. Also, state whether you are alergic to wool, etc. here. There are other fibers available. So that we all get socks we will really wear, I think it is also appropriate to say whether you would like thicker socks out of worsted weight yarn or thinner out of regular sock yarn (which is available at your LYS or online and our local "big box" hobby store is now starting to carry some.)

I dislike swaps that say that you have to have a certain rating level to join. This is on your honor--you are either a sock knitter or you aren't. If you've never made a pair of socks before, perhaps this isn't the swap for you and you should begin with a pair for yourself. They are great projects to carry with you when you find yourself waiting for kids, doctors, etc.

I knit socks, but I see books for crochet socks available. I'm not going to state what you have to do. The idea is to make a pair of socks that someone will love to wear this winter to keep their toes cozy. For those of you on the other half of the world, I appologize for the references to winter, but you are welcome to join the sock-making fun. Socks will keep until winter comes to your part of the world! Knittinglikecrazy

Definitely joining, if I end up with the materials in time!

This is my first swap.

I'm very excited to make socks for someone who will appreciate them.

We may have a small group, but that's OK. Sock knitters are special, but rare, people I've come to discover. Start measuring your feet and perhaps hinting at your color wish so we're all ready to roll on Sept. 7th.

I just measured my foot--I'm about 8 1/2 inches in circ. around the ball of my foot and my foot is about 10 1/4 inches long from tip of big toe to back of heel. I wear a 9 1/2 shoe in American sizes. I normally cast on 60 for a woman's sock on size 2 needles and that seems to work for me as well.
I'm not alergic to any fibers, but prefer thinner rather than thicker socks, so no worsted weight yarn, please. I have a couple pair to go with jeans, and would like something to wear with black pants--perhaps black or grey, with some other colors are OK. I like reds and purples so any of those colors thrown in would be great. I'm pretty happy with whatever anyone makes for me.

My foot is 10 inches long and it is almost 10 inches in circumference near the toes. I found that most socks stretch (wool not cotton), so I am not too concerned with size.

I love colors except for rainbow colored yarn. It reminds me of the 80's and my mom's crochet projects.

I wear shoes in size 9 or 9 1/2 but I have pretty narrow foot. I don't like itchy yarn (have a slight allergy) but other than that, wool is ok (I knit most of the socks with wooly yarn). I'd be happy to receive any kind of socks :)

See my profile for more info.

I wish I knew how to make socks so I could join. They look so cozy!! Do any of you sell yours?

My feet is 9 inches long and quite narrow. I usually wear a women's size 7.5 US or european size 38. I have no fiber allergies but I'm not so fond of anything 100% acrylic. I like most colors and prefer socks knitted in thinner yarn, but it's not a must. Getting a pair of hand knitted socks will be fun and I think I'd appreciate a pair my partner liked knitting more than a pair designed to fit my taste (except for the size, of course, it would be nice to be able to wear the socks! :D ).

My foot is 9 1/2 inches long (I wear US 10 shoe) and my instep is 9 inches around. Most patterns fit me fine. I like a longer sock for my leg. I like natural fibers because they feel better on my feet. I love any color, but right now I don't have any green or blue. But I am really not picky.

My foot is 9 1/2 inches long and wear a size 8 shoe. I would like a thinner yarn as most people already said. I am making a thin yarn sock for my partner since that is what she prefers. I will let you choose the colour for that I am not fussy, or what you are able to get is fine with me.:D

Oh My - I thought I had left my details on this thread already. If it is not too late - I have my feet are 8" wide and the same in length. Thats a UK size 3.
