Description:

Let's start our Christian Homestead Journal again. I am new to journal swaps, so if you have any questions please ask.

For each swap, we will have 3 partners. We will send at least 4 pages to our partners with 4 different themes. Of course, you may send more if you wish. Everyone should use 8.5 x 11 inches size paper. It is the size of standard printer paper. Do not send standard notebook paper. We will be using card stock for our pages. This will make our journals nicer. Please decorate your pages a little. This can mean adding some doodles or stickers. Just some decoration, so we are not just getting a plain typed or written sheet of paper. Let's make something pretty for our journals. Also, pages are to be mailed in a large envelope. Pages are not to be folded.

I will change the themes each month, so we will have a variety in our journals. I will probably do a recipe theme and a list each month, but will add a variety of other things. Some things will be seasonal.

Include your name on each page, so your partner will know who each page is from once it is placed in their journal.

This month our 4 themes (pages) will be:

  • A favorite winter recipe & a paragraph or more about winter. What you write about winter is completely up to you (memories, what you like about it, a story...). Recipe can be anything you wish, including desserts, casseroles, side dishes, sandwiches, hot drinks...

  • Lyrics to one of your favorite Christian songs

  • 2 of your favorite soup recipes

  • A list of your favorite Christian fiction or non-fiction books (must include at least 10 books)

I am giving three weeks from the sign up date for this swap. All the items are sender's choice, so you may start on it now if you wish. Let's have fun and make a very special journal for our Christian homesteads.

This is a type 3 swap because it is time-intensive.

I'm another swapper who reads non-fiction, and would love to join in on this group, if the guide lines could change to include the non-fiction books also, thanks

If only I read books...one of my favors things to do but tends to fall under adiction category for me. For now it's kids books...

just one more, well two more things. What do you mean about card stock paper, like a pasteboard? If that is what you're wanting me to use, guess that leaves out computer paper with a pre-printed border. thanks for all your help!

TwinMom 01/14/2015 #

Card stock paper is thicker and sturdier than regular printer paper. It is not as flimsy. It is sold in packs just like printer paper. They are located in the same place in stores that I shop in.

what size of card stock? I really want to do this.... 12 pieces of card stock is a lot though....

I was afraid that you were wanting something other than a computer style paper, I'm not really into any of the paper crafts, that is something I would not want to invest money into, so I'll pass this swap and watch for something else, but thanks for the info and the very best success with this swap, Shalom

Card stock is sold in packs just like computer paper. It is usually right beside the computer paper and is the same size. It is just thicker than regular computer paper. I was ask that we use this in our first journal swap & was so happy with the results. The pages I received were awesome.

I'm headed to Walmart tomorrow, will see what I have in my area, I really like the idea of this swap, thanks for the info

1leemeadows - I got a beautiful pack at walmart yesterday, for just $4! its by the labels and other computer papers

Forget to look at Walmart, but was in the city today, found it at Michael's, I'll be joing this swap, see how it goes. One more question, can we send a canning recipe or something that can be stored? Thanks

TwinMom 01/24/2015 #

Yes, you can send a canning recipe or whatever. As long as it fits the soup theme or the favorite winter recipe theme, it's good. And the winter one can be any type of thing you enjoy in the winter.
