Description:

As i'm sure most people will know i hosted the first of these swaps quite recently and there was an overwhelming response, there ended up being 106 participants! So naturally i had to get a round two moving fairly quickly! Hopefully everyone enjoyed the first round and will sign up here again.

Ok, so we all know what a scavenger hunt is and how much fun they are so i thought why not do one that is a little bit tricky and has a size limit on it.

Ok, so you have to find something representing the 10 below categories BUT they MUST fit into just an envelope! You may not send items in anything larger than a (C5)(165mm x 230mm)(6x9) envelope (plain envelope, not bubble wrap)! It can not be sent as a parcel! It must all fit into no bigger than this sized envelope. All items should be sent together in the one envelope. Be creative because you will need to think of something within in each category that fits into the correct sized envelope without making it fatter than a letter. (One item per category, 10 in total) Use your imagination, provided that you can justify why you sent a certain item for that category it is suitable.

This is an international swap. You must have an overall rating of 4.5 for this swap. Newbies are welcome also.

Here are the 10 categories:
- Something to decorate/decorate with
- Something sparkly
- Something that you need to add to (Use your imagination on this one!)
- Something black or white
- Something you(sender) swaps regularly
- Something from a magazine
- Something with an unusual shape
- something for the kitchen
- something to put on
- Something from your town/city/suburb

It would be really interesting to also hear why you chose each thing! But this is not nescessary for the swap. If you have any questions PM me or comment below. Happy swapping!

Just reminding everybody to please read the swap description thoroughly. It is stated that you MUST have an overall rating of 5 to participate in this swap, i will ban you if your rating is lower than this so please do not bother signing up unless you meet the swap guidelines. Thank you.

tristia 07/16/2008 #

I loved this swap last time. It was so much fun getting stuff together. (Even if my envelope was a bit fat!) It was still a C5!

PostMuse 07/16/2008 #

Wow. A 5 rating requirement. You are missing out on some fabulous swappers.

smokeandmirrors 07/16/2008 #

Changing the rating requirement to 4.5. I have had a few people request it. Hope it all goes smoothly.

wygirl 07/17/2008 #

okay... I failed on the last one in getting under the size limit. Hopefully I'll do better on this one. These small size limits are the most challenging swaps I have ever been in.

skunk 07/17/2008 #

how can i add this swap to my watch list? so that i can add it when i'm again below 5 swaps?

smokeandmirrors 07/17/2008 #

skunk: Under the sign up button there is a smaller link that should say watch this swap.

Glad to see that a lot of people are interested in participating again!

euphoria 07/18/2008 #

This really was a blast the first time; fun to put together and I got a great package back, too. I simply can't resist! (Hope you'll do another...and another...)

mydnite 07/18/2008 #

hi- i don't mean to be sound silly but what is a C5 size? is that like a greeting card size(4 x 5.5")? thanks

smokeandmirrors 07/19/2008 #

No mydnite; a C5 envelope is a 6x9 size or 165mm x 230mm. Hope you will participate!

smokeandmirrors 07/24/2008 #

I am really impressed, i thought maybe people wouldn't want to participate in another of this swap quite so soon!

sportzmedchick 07/25/2008 #

I got ties up and sent out the other envelope this morning, but ready to start making a new one!! This really was challenging though - I had so many items that just wouldn't fit!!! It really makes you think!

smokeandmirrors 07/25/2008 #

sportzmedchick, maybe keep comments about number one in that section, we don't want anyone getting very confused! Thanks :-)

snpyrunner 07/26/2008 #

this looks interesting, will join... would love to have same swap with more than one partner. guess I just love to receive goodies in the mail!

puggerhugger 07/26/2008 #

can newbies join if they have zero swaps?

AliChell 07/27/2008 #

Can I join? I have done one swap and dont have any rating yet...

smokeandmirrors 07/27/2008 #

Yes, as it says in the swap info, newbies are welcome! Hope i will see you all!

teanhoneybread 07/28/2008 #

as i understand it C5 is 6X9 up to 20mm thickness...true?

smokeandmirrors 07/29/2008 #

I am not sure about the thickness....here in Australia the thickness isn't really advertised, sorry. If that is what your post office has said to you though then i would say that sounds about right. Sorry i couldn't be more help.

chincho 07/30/2008 #

Unfortunatly we do not have this size of envelopes here.... we have 7x10 or 5.5x8.2... if I will get in swap 6x9 one - I'll recycle it, if not - I'll have to use the smaller one. This is a challenge....

Another thing: as my English is not so good, I ask about "put on" I know that you put on shoes. What else? (Jewels? make-up? socks?) Please give me examples of things that you "put on". THANKS.

smokeandmirrors 07/30/2008 #

That is ok chincho, just use the closest sized one you have. The thing is it can be interpreted however you want. Yes, you put on clothing etc. but you could also put on a mask, or you can put sprinkles on a cake, pen on paper etc etc. There are endless possibilities for this category! Just put in whatever you think the category means.

vannasmom 08/ 2/2008 #

wow a 5 rating , but also stated that you could be a newbie ? correct?

SolvaNabila 08/ 2/2008 #

Ok, this is going to be fun. I did a "Letters in your partners name"-swap once, it was a little similar to this one, but to limit it to c5 envie... Wow, thats going to be hard hehe. But totally doable though. I hope. :D

jnaos 08/ 2/2008 #

I loved round 1-- I had to change things a couple of times and do creative padding...

katerbear44 08/ 2/2008 #

hi! this sounds like an awesome swap but, I don't get the third item/idea... something you need to add to...... what does this mean? Thanks to anyone who answers :)

smokeandmirrors 08/ 3/2008 #

katerbear44, that is what is so fun about the swap, the categories can mean anything you want them to mean!

LadyT 08/ 4/2008 #

I'd love to particpate but am a newbie and don't have a rating as of yet.

LeeA 08/ 4/2008 #

I think it's just really nice that you stress that it's okay for beginners. I have so wanted to try an ATC but was worried that my swap offering wouldn't be up to par - that I'd get something great and send something very not so great. Thanks!

eagoodlife 08/ 5/2008 #

Hi to smokeandmirrors and other Aussie swappers. If you go to your post office they have a nice card with slots in it which will show you how thick something can be to fit for the different postal rates. Check it out!

smokeandmirrors 08/ 6/2008 #

Yes, that is right eagoodlife! Thanks for putting that up there; i am sure too that other Countries probably have a similar system as well. So if in doubt just ask at your post office.

angelstar 08/ 8/2008 #

I just thought of something for the hardest one, for me anyway - something you need to add to. If I can do that one then I am quite sure I can do the others. This causes one to think, which is great!

smokeandmirrors 08/ 8/2008 #

That's what i love about it, you just don't know how people will interpret something. You might be expecting to receive one thing and then bam, you receive something completely different.

No much longer until sign up closes everyone!

angelstar 08/10/2008 #

10 more days!

angelstar 08/10/2008 #

Is enclosing a nice picture of the unusually shaped item okay? I found something natural, and outside, and HUGE! I took a picture of it. That would be the only item I would do a picture of. I can't think of anything else for "Something with an unusual shape." I'm having a hard time with this swap too! But now that I've started and got the wheels in my brain turning I can't give up!

angelstar 08/10/2008 #

How about as fat as a REALLY FAT letter?

angelstar 08/10/2008 #

One more thing: I've copied and pasted the list into a document and will mention what item(s) go with each category. I will enclose that list in with the items. I thought that was a good idea so the receiver knows what is what. I hope I am not shocked by how much this will cost to send internationally. If so, I may have to change some items. I'm trying really hard to find THIN things.

allie9 08/13/2008 #

I'd like to enter, but first I'd like to find all the things needed...my english is not perfect (at all!), so I need an hint on the 3rd, "Something that you need to add to"...that 'you' is referred to me? to the sender, right? and the whole meaning is like "Something you think should be added to the letter"?

smokeandmirrors 08/13/2008 #

Please read the above comments about this same question. There is no 'whole meaning' or right or wrong meaning. It is an open statement that you must interpret yourself.

allie9 08/14/2008 #

ok, I wasn't sure about the grammatical meaning, but even if I'm wrong, it doesn't matter, I suppose ;)

smokeandmirrors 08/14/2008 #

Can i please make a request for any newbies joining this swap? Please read the faq first just you understand how swap-bot works. This will make the swap easier and more fun for you and your partner.

Also want to add that these categories are meant to provoke thought and to get people all sending different or unusual things. As long as you can explain how your item relates to the category that is fine. There is no specific answer for any of the categories, so just relax, have fun and use your imagination.

This swap is going to finish in approximately 6 days time. If anyone no longer wishes to participate please drop this swap before the sign up date. Otherwise you will be expected to still send something to your partner.

Good luck, i am really looking forward to this, i got such a lovely swap last time. :-)

nikii 08/14/2008 #

nikii 08/22/2008 #

woo hooooo I will send out next week ><

Lori915 08/27/2008 #

I think this swap has been a lot of fun to get ready to send out....but HOLY COW!!! I went to the post office today and a 6X9 envie is A LOT smaller than what I had pictured in my mind. Yikes. :)

Mushwad 08/28/2008 #

Lori, I know what you mean. I had it all planned out thinking that the envie would be alot bigger than it was! I never thought I'd get that much stuff into such a little spot! But I managed and sent out yesterday! I can't wait to see what I get back. This was a fun swap!!

smokeandmirrors 08/28/2008 #

I'm happy to hear that everyone is enjoying this swap! If anyone has some category ideas for #3 of this swap i would be happy to hear them!

tex82 08/29/2008 #

i didnt read this "(plain envelope, not bubble wrap)! It can not be sent as a parcel! It must all fit into no bigger than this sized envelope. "

now I have to start again!

Pookledo 08/30/2008 #

smokeandmirrors 09/ 8/2008 #

allie9 09/15/2008 #

euphoria 09/16/2008 #

Okay, I got everything into the envelope, but I wasn't able to keep it thin! Hopefully my swap partner won't rate me down for not following the swap guidelines. ;)

akingslow 09/17/2008 #

Sent mine yesterday Joan

SolvaNabila 09/19/2008 #

Ok finally, its going out!

I hope I get mine soon :D Hehe.

neca84 09/19/2008 #

20th september here in Aus anyway and there are still 50 swappers maked NOT SENT !!

smokeandmirrors 09/22/2008 #

It is now September 23rd and i still see a lot of people that have not marked their parcels as sent!!!!!!! It is very disappointing and i think for part 3 of this swap i will be changing the requirements. I will be e-mailing people shortly to find out what is going on.

Cookstar34 09/23/2008 #

Sorry Elizabeth 13, I forgot to mark this swap as sent. Your package IS on it's way!!!

akingslow 09/25/2008 #

Where do we go to see pictures of uploaded items for this swap,

smokeandmirrors 10/ 4/2008 #

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
I will be sitting down some time this week and reviewing all of the replies i had after i attempted to track down those who had not sent. Anyone that i have not heard from or their partner has not heard from i will be advising to them to leave a 1 rating and trying to organise an angel for them.

SolvaNabila 10/10/2008 #

I gave my partner one, and did not hear a thing anyways. I was flaked. Well, okay, its not the end of the world hehe, my partner got her stuff, and was happy enough.

euphoria 10/22/2008 #

I was flaked, too, but that's okay; at least I finally got rated. I'd much rather be flaked than not rated! :) This was really a fun swap; I am wondering why the next one got canceled? :(
