What's a bookplate? To paraphrase wikipedia: a small label that is placed (usually pasted) into the front of a book to show who the book belongs to. They're also known as ex-libris (from the books of)

You can buy bookplates at many bookstores, and they come in a variety of sizes and styles. They can also be handmade, often using larger address labels.

Store bought booksplates are fine for this swap, as are nicely handmade ones. Unless your partner indicates otherwise, don't personalize them. They 5 bookplates do not need to be identical.
