I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, my favorite books to read were ghost and haunted house stories. I remember rainy summer days with piles and piles of ghost books from the library. I still enjoy reading them today to see if I can capture the same mood. Whether it's the subtle creepiness or emotion (there was always a sad history behind the ghost that always made you feel sorry for him or her by the end of the story), for me, children's ghost stories have always had something that adult horror stories can never get right. For this swap, send your partner a copy of your favorite chilling children's novel. The book can be new or very gently used. Include a little note explaining why you love it (but no spoilers!). |
