Description:

So for this swap we'll have over one month to fill an entire sketchbook with drawings, sketches... coloured, drawn with a pencil etc... doesn't matter. What matters is really that all pages will be filled out and that you'll send your partner a product of your art. It doesn't even have to be perfect; remember, it's a sketchbook. Front and back do not have to be filled out. You can decide on a theme for each page / few pages or just decide to draw random things you feel like drawing. Anything goes, so to speak.

Sketch book should be at least 4"x6" (I personally will be using a 5.8"x8.25" this is A5 size) but if you choose to do bigger then go right a head :) It can be either homemade or store bought. If you buy a sketch book DO NOT BUY FROM THE DOLLAR STORE OR ANY OTHER SUPER CHEAP BOOK! There must be at least 30 pages in the sketch book. If your book is like 100 + pages do not feel you have to do all 100 pages, but you can if you want!

Don't feel limited to just anime/manga drawings in the sketchbook, if you want to try other things too along the way (a more realistic approach, for example, or a little more surreal or sketchy).

And feel free to decorate the outside of the sketch book too!! You must put your info in the sketch book some where.

IMPORTANT!!!

IF YOU FLAKE ON THIS SWAP YOU WILL BE BOOTED FROM THE GROUP, AND IF YOU ARE LATE WITH THIS WITH OUT CONTACTING YOUR PARTNER YOU WILL BE BAN FROM ANY SWAPS WITH IN THIS GROUP FOR 3 MONTHS!!!

If you have questions message me or post a comment!!

Again I have to ask about the pages :D Is it 30 sheets if you draw only on one side and 15 sheets if you use both sides? Or is the latter one okay? I'd really like to do this swap but I want to be sure I get a right kind of book :D Hopefully there is some that doesn't have million pages in them, my current sketchbook is pretty thick and heavy.

pikkukiinalainen 05/12/2014 #

Also, should it be hard cover or can it be a notebook too?

dragonalloy 05/12/2014 #

@pikkukiinalainen lol how do you manage to type your name!! lol its alot :D but i like it.

ummm either or will work. the one i have i got at Micheals craft store went to 2 different stores to find something mine its 40 pages (80 if you do each page) so i guess it comes down to what is going to work best for you. And yes i do know that not every country has a Micheals Craft store. :)

I personally don't like doing front and back just because when you start drawing the pencil lead starts coming off. unless you put a paper between the 2 pages so it doesnt go on another drawing..

dragonalloy 05/12/2014 #

the cover doesn't have to be hard!! cause for me shipping over seas is going to kill me if its hard covered!

pikkukiinalainen 05/12/2014 #

@dragonalloy oh I've been using this name for years, it's not difficult at all :D It was one of my cat's nicknames when he lived by the way.

Thanks for all the answers, I'll start looking what kind of books are available. I found one notebook that has 20 pages and it's not expensive, looks like a death note ;) I can draw on both sides if I use fixative spray on a finished page, that way there shouldn't be any mess. It would be easier if I found a 30 or 40 pages book though, I think I'll keep on looking a little longer.

dragonalloy 05/12/2014 #

i should try that fixative spray i got me a can and i use it on all my stuff now when sending it out so thanks for that idea :D

nyanSan 05/13/2014 #

Since I'm not good with inches, will A4 pages be ok? :P Just making 100% sure.

dragonalloy 05/13/2014 #

@nyansan you can do whatever size you like it just has to be 4"x6" (postcard size) or larger :)

nyanSan 05/14/2014 #

ohhh, postcard size :o! I guess I'll do larger. I bought a full 50 page sketchbook for this swap lolol XD. Poor partner of mine.

Hi I 'v been trying to find a plain drawing book with 30 page most I'v found is 80 -.- so am I ok to use a notebook that is lined with 30 pages ? I'v got 1 that is not to heavy to post as I have feeling if I buy something heaver it going to cost me a bomb to post out. found 1 with a pretty cover design on front of it already so I won't need to do much to that. personally i'd be using crayons to color in drawing with if not leaving a few penciled. notebook I got is 21cm by 15cm (says it's a5 size ) would this be om to use.

angeliccat15 05/27/2014 #

this notebook has 40 pages forgot to add .

foxyfoxy 05/28/2014 #

Okay so let me make sure I understand this. We buy a sketchbook and draw/paint/whatever on all the pages (or most if it's 100+ pages). Then we send it to our partner. That's it?

dragonalloy 05/29/2014 #

@angeliccat15 sorry just now saw this been kinda busy and tired. but it would be better as a art/sketch book vs a notebook. its going to almost be impossible to find one that is 30 pages unless you make it from scratch or maybe someone on etsy sells them with that many page? A5 in size is good to use though, and like i said doesnt have to be 30 pages, it can be more if you pick. the media choice isn't and issue as far if its crayon, color pencil, pencil, pen, or paint, ect... i was able to find me some at a craft store that has 40 pages and not too heavy. and trust me everyone know shipping is gonna be pricey on this if things are heavy. thats why you gotta see what works for your budget. but just gotta stay away from lined paper.

@bunnyhoney that is correct. you can always start drawing in the book now too. i have 2 of these going on and haven't even touched this one yet. lol :D

angeliccat15 06/ 6/2014 #

Yays I'm able to join this now =D found A5 plain drawing book that not too heavy and that is 50 pages ;) .

dragonalloy 06/ 6/2014 #

@angeliccat15 nice :D yea finding art books that arent too heavy can be a pain but well worth it in the end. with mine i found the one and had to buy a few cause its over all perfect! you should join the part 2 of this too :3
