Description:

Inspired by a thread on handwriting, I thought it would be neat to create a swap that celebrates and showcases longhand writing. Whether you think your handwriting could rival that of royalty or is worse than a doctor's, share it--write it loud and proud!

For this swap:

  • You will have one partner
  • You will send your partner your handwriting sampler featuring each letter of the alphabet (A-Z) in uppercase and lowercase along with the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" and the same sentence written with your non-dominant hand (i.e. switch hands)
  • (Optional) Include a sampler of your numbers (0-9) and/or common punctuation marks such as ? & * ! # @ and so forth -- thank you @flyingfox for the suggestion
  • (Optional, but highly encouraged) Write your partner an introductory letter telling about yourself

In order to join, make sure:

  • You have a 4.98 rating or above (newbies allowed with well filled out profiles)
  • You have no 1's in the past year and no unexplained 3's in the past six months
  • You can communicate clearly as needed, will send on time, and will rate promptly

This is an international swap. If you'd like to sign up for the USA only version, click here.

I'll check profiles and remove swappers as necessary and do a final profile check May 1, 2014 before assigning partners. You'll then have just over two weeks to complete, if you haven't already, and mail your swap. Please don't forget to include your username and the swap name somewhere.

The idea is for this to be a simple (and I hope fun) swap. I will angel after you've rated your partner a 1 if necessary, but please don't make it necessary--we're all adults here.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please send me a PM or leave a comment below.

Since I received some excellent comments/suggestions on the USA Only swap, I thought I should also include the answers here:

Should you print or use cursive? You can use whichever you're most comfortable with whether that's print, cursive, or a mixture of both.

How should the alphabet be formatted? You can write them all uppercase and then lowercase (ex: A B C, etc. and then a b c, etc.) or you can write an uppercase letter followed by its lowercase counterpart (ex: Aa Bb Cc).

How many times are we writing the sentence? Twice. You'll write the sentence first with your dominant hand and then again with your non-dominant hand.

I've also added the option to include writing your numbers are some common punctuation. :)
