Description:

The more observant of you will notice that this is a duplicate of a swap which is up publicly. That is because I am clearly still not on the ball yet this year as I intended the swap to be for the group but accidentally set it up as a public swap instead! So, I am also going to run it within the group for those of you who want to swap within the safety of the group. I know some of you have been flaked on for journal swaps and the idea of this group is to avoid it happening again so I am more than happy to run it twice.

So...this is a month long journal which we will keep for our partner, but the twist is that each of the 30 entries needs to somehow incorporate a magazine cutting. It can be a picture, an article, words or anything else from a magazine. Then, each entry needs to somehow relate to the cutting or, vice versa, the cutting needs to relate to the entry.

I'd love you to be as creative as possible. The journal can be mostly written, it can be decorated, it can be mostly art or it can be a combination of all of them. Each entry can be different or you can theme the journal as you want. Entries can be anything from a comment about your day, to a poem, to a collage, to a story, to any random musings which take your fancy - see this as a completely creative exercise.

If you need some ideas for entries, how about:

  • Write about something you did that day and find a picture from a magazine which illustrates it and stick it in e.g. you walked the dog in the park, so find a picture of a dog.
  • Stick in an article which you enjoyed reading and write some commentary about it, or highlight the best bits.
  • Create a collage from random magazine cutouts
  • Write a poem using a magazine headline as the title
  • Find a book review in a magazine and then write your own thoughts on that book.
  • Use pictures to do a 'top 5' of something - foods, outfits, books...
  • Write a short story using a picture as the prompt

The key specifications are:

30 entries, each dated (you don't have to start at the beginning of the month, and as I am giving more than 30 days to complete this swap, they don't have to be consecutive)

Each entry must incorporate something from a magazine - any magazine and a mix of magazines is fine

That's about it! Let your creativity flow!
