Description:

Let's make a fun and different junk journal. For this swap, we'll make a journal with the following guidelines:

  • The special thing about this journal is that you can make the pages from anything but paper, with the following exceptions. You may use paper bags, sacks, food/candy wrappers and greeting cards. It's also fine to use items like a six-pack holder, cereal box, or card-stock type material (i.e. a timecard or bingo card, for exam ple).

And there are the regular details.

  • The journal should have at least 12 leaves (24 pages counting front and back).
  • Create whatever type of cover you'd like. Decorate the cover, but do leave room for your partner to add personal touches.
  • Leave the pages blank for your partner to fill in.
  • Bind any way you choose.
  • Let's keep the size between 4x6 and 6x9.

I'm making this USA only due to the potential weight. If you outside the USA and want to do a journal, message me, and we can do a private swap.

If you have any questions, please ask.

I will angel if you don't receive a swap.

Swap requirements: You'll need to have a rating of 4.90 or better and a well filled-out profile. Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. No recent or unexplained 1s or 3s. No flakers.

I wanted to do one with Starbucks coffee mugs, but never did. Then I also wanted to one from my Pharmacy paper bags again I never did. So this is a great swap.

Are you leaving the pages blank for your swap partner or doing journal pages ..

joyceann888 10/28/2013 #

Please leave the page blank for your partner to fill in.

dlchick 10/29/2013 #

Just to make sure I'm clear on the exceptions... You mean we can't use scrapbook/printed/plain paper, but we can use other things that are made of paper, like maybe tickets, receipts, play money, etc?

dlchick 10/30/2013 #

Also, do we leave the pages as-is if they have an image on them (like a cereal box, for example) or gesso over the images to create a blank page for our partner to use?

ShannonArtsyFartsy 10/31/2013 #

Can we use colors as well as gesso as long as the pages are fairly plain?

Susi 11/14/2013 #

What about junk mail envelopes?

Neenie 12/ 5/2013 #

Can you give more detail please? Lots of questions, sounds fun but want to know more before I join. Thank you.

sometime i wish i had a picture of one done

Well, I'll attempt to address the questions above (and I'll edit the description accordingly). Let's leave the pages as they are. Your partner can gesso, etc., if they want to remove/mute images. I'll add junk mail envelopes to the list of "paper" to use. The idea of this journal is for it to truly be a "junk" journal, so no scrapbook paper. I have a journal that I made completely of duct tape. Each page has a pocket to use to "add" things. I don't recommend this for a swap because the duct tape journal is heavy. Try to think outside of the box and use non-paper items you find, as much as you can. Then look for paper items that are ones you'd not normally think of for a journal. If you have specific questions, please message me, and I'll try to answer them.

It seems someone got in with no rating and profile not filled out :/. No offense , but, please don't flake!!!

RecklessRue 01/ 7/2014 #

Ok, so we don't have to add any embellishments to the journal? It's just pages? No tickets or receipts like dlchick asked, or things like small wrappers, stickers, etc etc to dress up the pages a bit. Just want to make sure. =)

grammag 01/17/2014 #

Are old book pages okay? And pages from recipe books? Old calendars?
