Hi! I am interested in joining this swap but I am having a hrd time trying to locate items for it. Can you tell me where you guys are finding items? Thanks

Jasmine

user672 04/24/2006 #

Haha I'm excited about this one. Just last week I was thinking about starting a bird swap. Sweet! Jasmine, try stationary stores, toy shops, craft stores, garage sales, thrift stores. Good luck!

user609 04/24/2006 #

Hello Jasmine, Do you have any gift shops in your town? Try looking there for items as I think bird-related items are hot right now! Also try gardening stores, Michael's or other Art Supply store for rubber stamps with birds on it. Try the supermarket for cookies, teas and other items with birds on it, TJ Maxx or HomeGoods or other closeout item store for tea cups with birds on it. -Jen

Sorry I added "with birds on it" after every item, obviously, I mean that's the point of the swap right? :P

user1108 04/25/2006 #

Impress Rubber stamps has an online shop and they have several great bird stamps! Also saw a great little journal at Barnes and Noble last night that had a lovely bird on the cover. Birds really are hot right now (even though I have always loved them) and are everywhere. I have had trouble finding any kind of little eggs to use in projects though, does anyone have a source for those? So excited about this swap!

user609 04/26/2006 #

I have seen soap in the shape and color of Robin's eggs at a gift shop here in town and also eggs for sale in another gift store. Maybe try Michaels or other crafting store?

Is this an international or domestic swap?

user1138 04/27/2006 #

Jennifer -

I hope you get my name for the swap! You sound like you found some great stuff! :)

I have loved birds too for a very long time. I am so excited for this swap! :)

Hi Laurie! Thanks, I did find some great stuff! I hope whoever gets it enjoys it ( it something I would love to get myself!) :)

user605 04/28/2006 #

Rachel, this is a international swap.

user601 04/28/2006 #

Thanks girls for all the suggestions but I still havent had much luck so I guess Im going to sit this one out =( All I have found are stamps and since the limit is around $15.00 Id only be able to send like 2-3 stamps to my partner and I dont want to do that. Id rather get them a bunch of things instead you know. So I guess Ill just have to see all the pretty things you guys found =)

user609 04/28/2006 #

I went a few bucks over my limit (which was my choice of course!) . Will people be disappointed if they only get a few things? It's all quality and things I would love to receive myself. worried

user601 04/28/2006 #

That sounds perfect Jennifer. Quality is def better over quantity. Where did you find your items?

user609 04/29/2006 #

I bought my stuff from a local gift shop (whoot! support small businesses). :)

user1107 05/ 3/2006 #

Jennifer, in case you're still worried, I will be thrilled to receive even one pretty little bird item from my partner. I don't think you need to worry at all about quantity. For around $15 dollars,it's pretty near impossible to buy a bunch. Smiles.

user609 05/10/2006 #

If your still looking for ideas on what to buy, here are some cool things (I think) I have seen in chain stores: *Hallmark card Shop - Pretty blue and white flower pots decorated with birds. Lovely. With the MOther's Day stuff.

*Starbucks is selling truffel eggs. cost - $3.00

  • HomeGoods - in their garden supply isle I saw a very cute, plastic, hollow, sparrow for the garden: cost - $9 - 15 ish.

An idea. Go to Michaels and buy a white, thick, picture frame. Search the internet for pretty photos of birds. E-mail the links to your self and then log on to a computer at Kinkos and print them out on their nice color printer. Use the printouts to decroate frame. be sure to coat it so it stays nice. wah-la! You could also paint it another color or add a crackle finish. Pricier I know.

I personally would love to do a round 2 of this swap! I had a lot of fun gathering little bird things!

user693 05/18/2006 #

I'd love to do this swap again as well:)

user609 05/19/2006 #

yes from me!

user1108 05/21/2006 #

There is a round 2 set up already...check it out!

user1108 05/21/2006 #

Rachel (roxydynamite) I do not know how to contact you to thank you for the wonderful swap package that I received. I can not find an email address for you. I loved the package very much! Thank you!!

user784 05/21/2006 #

When is the latest we should recieve things by? I haven't gotten mine yet, but I don't know how long I should wait. Just wondering. Thanks.

LadyYing 05/28/2006 #

I haven't gotten anything as well :( this is like the 4th swap where I got nothing in return.

user1138 05/28/2006 #

Me neither! I still haven't received this one and my last swap got lost in the mail. I am trying to stay positive though!

WishingOnClovers 06/10/2006 #

Hopefully mine will come soon as well... ^_^

user1138 06/21/2006 #

Christina and Stacey - and Stefanie -

Did you guys ever receive your swap items? I never did! I am kinda bummed out about it. :( I was just wondering if they came later after you posted.

I guess I should give up waiting by now. :(

user1145 06/21/2006 #

I can see my partner hasn't recieved hers yet....i sent it! PLEASE KEEP WAITING FOR IT!!! IT'LL BE THERE SOON I'M SURE!!!!! why did this happen......fingers crossed...

LadyYing 06/24/2006 #

I still haven't gotten anything then again the person I got has never sent anything out so I'm not expecting a miracle for this one. Every swap I have signed up for lately has left me with nothing in return, I'm thinking about dropping out of Swap-bot because people just keep signing up for free stuff and never send out anything. Used to be fun when people on here actually sent out items they put thought into now it's just free loaders.

WishingOnClovers 07/18/2006 #

Still nothing ;_;

user1138 07/22/2006 #

Still nothing here either. Not that I'm really expecting anything now! Bummer!
