That will give you about a month to read, and 6 days to send out your swap. If the swap is not sent out on or before the 6th (please note any weekends and holidays and send prior to that) I won't allow you in the next months swap. Please note, the 6th falls on a Sun, so I have made the send by date, Oct 5th.

  • Sign ups will be held the 1st through the 7th of each month
  • One full month to read one chosen book
  • send date will be the 6th of the following month

Any questions? Post below, PM me or ask in the group forum. Now that we are done with that ~ this months books!! :)

September Book Club! Choose from ~

NOTE ~ if the book I have chosen is part of a series (such as this months Dexter), and you have read it, you MAY read the book in the series you are currently on. Just make a note to your partners that it is a part of the series of the one that is chosen.

After you read your book, write to you partner all about the book and please write at least two full size pages (8.5x10 or A4), by hand, or 1 FULL page (no big spacing, fonts or margins) if typed. Here are some questions that you can answer about the book to help you tell about it, please answer at least 4 (half) of the questions ~

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like it, or dislike it?
  • What was your favorite part or character, what was your least favorite?
  • Have you read other books by the author, would you read more books by the author because of this book?
  • Were there situations or characters that you identified with, and how?
  • If you could change something about the book, what would it be and how would you change it?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take a while for you to get into it?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What question would you ask?

No rating requirements, since it's in the group. Please send on or before the 6th. If I get on to assign partners at midnight on the 7th/8th and it wasn't sent, I won't allow that person in the current swap. Please sent on time! Don't forget to rate your partner when you have received your swap! It's the other half to the Swap-Bot transaction!

And just as a personal recommendation ~ for those who haven't read Night Circus, I FULLY recommend it. It's my absolute favorite book. SO beautifully written. I LOVE it. I'm actually re-reading it, by listening to the audio done by Jim Dale (the guy that did the Harry Potter books). LOOOOVE it!! :)

I've read 3 or 7 of these, depending how one counts. Was planning on reading the next Dex book, but maybe I'll have another look at The Night Circus....

ImzadiRose 08/28/2013 #

Thought you'd read Gameboard with me Kim. :)

Night Circus is so beautiful. I love it so much. Most people who have read it that I've suggested it to have at least enjoyed it, if not completely loved it.

The most recent Dexter comes out on the 17th, for those who read it. I really should give it at try.

Checked out Me Talk Pretty One Day from mymediamall.net and put Night Circus on hold. Might read two this month!

ImzadiRose 08/28/2013 #

I dunno what that Me Talk one is about, but a bunch of people wanted to read it. The title grates at me! LOL! Hope you'll try Night Circus @MrsDoubleA I can't sing it's praises enough!

smadronia 08/31/2013 #

I highly recommend Gameboard of The Gods

The title for Me Talk Pretty One Day is about a guy who ends up going to France and trying to learn the language

martingale 09/ 1/2013 #

There's three I want to read this time! I managed two last time, but I think three might be pushing it...which one do I choose?

ImzadiRose 09/ 1/2013 #

Put the titles in a box on pieces of paper, and pick one randomly @martingale :)

@smadronia ~ Gameboard is what I read. I really liked it. Thanks for explaining about that book, the title is so weird, but makes sense! :)

smadronia 09/ 1/2013 #

Oh, Gameboard isn't actually a YA novel. It's considered an adult book instead of YA

Warning for Me Talk Pretty One Day: Don't read it in public. I read some of it while in the dentist waiting room a few years back and literally could not stop crying I was laughing so hard. Other people in the waiting room kept giving me looks, but I couldn't stop laughing!

Well, thanks to my local library - decision made. It is rare for my tiny library to have exactly what I want but it came up trumps with both The Night Circus and 1984 so I am very pleased! Now to get reading.

ImzadiRose 09/ 7/2013 #

I hope you love Night Circus @martingale

Arielah 09/ 8/2013 #

Just in case anyone is still having trouble picking I'm loving The Night Circus!

David Sedaris is hilarious! Like, ridiculously funny. Me Talk Pretty is another of his short-story books. Love him! "6 to 8 Black Men" is one of my favs, audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYdpte1W0vk
