This swap is for people who like scrapbooking, paper crafts, tea or other hot beverages, food, other cultures, traveling, and random goodies (a.k.a. surprises)!
[Update: since people seem to miss this info (as it is at the bottom of the swap description), I'd like to inform you before you continue reading that this swap is for people with a rating of 5. Unrated swappers and swappers with a rating below 5 are not allowed. This is because the swap is just too big to take any risks.]
For this swap you put together a package to really spoil your swapping partner. You may have to spend a bit more money than you're used to, but that's why you have 2 months to complete the package. Also, it doesn't have to be expensive!
You'll have 1 partner to whom you send a package including all of the following:
5 pieces of ephemera from your country/town. This means: brochures, pamphlets, bus tickets, recycling stickers, forms, local newspaper articles/pages, receipts, adverts, labels, and so on. If you end up with a partner who lives in the same country, try picking things that really have to do with your town.
2 postcards of your country/town. Not written on and no stamps on them. If you want to include a note, do it on a piece of paper.
A recipe from your country/town/culture. It can be from a local restaurant, your grandmother, or just something typical to your country/culture. It doesn't matter, as long as it's local and includes a picture! (The picture can be taken by you, clipped from a magazine or printed from the internet, it doesn't matter.)
3 self-taken pictures of your street/town/area. Not clipped from magazines or anything. They can be from an instant camera or a digital camera, it doesn't matter. Just make sure you took them yourself. Don't write on the pictures but include notes that tell a little about the pictures.
3 bags of tea, cocoa, or coffee. I don't mean entire packs, just three separate pouches. Like this: http://mijnkopjekoffie.com/shop/produkt-per-proefzakje/proefzakje-arabica-koffie-met-ganoderma-extract/.
But check if the country you're sending to allows the product to be sent into the country! (Just google it.) If the country doesn't allow it, think of a replacement that would match the costs and effort.
2 delicacies from your country/town. It can be candy, pasta mix (for a dish the receiver has to make), cookies, sandwich filling - anything that you can send without problems. It must not go bad in the mail. No one wants to receive fungus.
2 wishlist gifts. Check your partner's profile, see what they like and include it. Don't make it 1 sheet of notepad paper, or something. If you decide to send notepad paper, background paper or anything of the sort, make it at least 5 sheets.
A piece of jewelry. It can not be more expensive than 10 euros (13 American Dollars, 8.65 British Pounds). It is entirely sender's choice, but local crafts are the best.
A letter of advice. You probably don't know your partner so if you feel awkward addressing the letter to your partner specifically, just start with "Dear You". Make it 1 sheet (front and back) long, at least. Share your wisdom. Share all the things you've learned in life. Share the things you would want your children or their children to know. Pass on what you know. Make the world a better place.
A list with 5 of your favorite books. Add reasons (why do you like these books and why would you recommend them?), add pictures or reviews or magazine clippings that remind you of the books. You can make this a piece of art or just use a paperclip to put it all together.
A list with 5 of your favorite movies. Same as above.
Anything that you like from a local store. It doesn't have to be a local product. It can be a vase, a necklace, a scarf, a book, anything - anything YOU like. Must be at least 3 euros, 3.9 US dollars, or 2.6 pounds. Don't spend more than you can spare! A keyring is fine, too!
3 buttons (those things you close your coat with - not badges)
1 empty/unused scrapbook or notebook
2 Bath & Body items. Can be cosmetics, can be soap, can be lotion, anything of your choice. Can not cost more than 10 euros per piece (13 American Dollars, 8.65 British Pounds).
3 random items, entirely sender's choice! You can include a mug, stickers (all stickers count as 1 item), sunglasses, scarves, baking powder, anything - anything at all! (Don't do postcards or notepad sheets if you've already included them for one of the former requirements).
Make sure to make it a nice package!
Because this is a rather big package and requires more effort and money than most packages, I'm not allowing anyone with a rating under 5. No exceptions and no newbies (no offense, newbies). I think I've included plenty of guidelines to make sure everyone receives a swap equal to the swap they send.
Right, happy swapping everyone!
Any questions? I'll be happy to answer them in the comments section (but private messages are fine, too)!
