Last day to signup/drop:March 15, 2013
Date items must be sent by:April 1, 2013
Number of swap partners:3
Description:

In this swap, you will have 3 partners.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS SWAP:
You will send each partner the starting row of a granny square. It's called a "granny daughter". Yarn color and pattern is sender's choice, as long as it is 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn. Here are the instructions:

Step 1: Ch 6. Join with a sl st to form a ring. (If you want less hole in the center, chain 3 or 4 instead) You can also make a "magic circle"
Step 2: Ch. 3, 2 dc, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 3 times, sl st to join to the 3rd chain stitch from foundation loop. Fasten off. It should look like this:

Step 3. Safety pin a paper tag to Round 1 of your square with the following:
Your Name (swap-bot name)
Your Address
City, State, Zip

Send 1 of these to each of your 3 partners.

IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN ROUND #1:

Add a row to the granny squares you got from your partners in the previous round. Yarn color is sender's choice, as long as it is 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn. Here are some instructions:

Send one of these to your 3 new partners. Leave the tag pinned to the center so the square can eventually find its way home in a later swap. If you get a same partner as previous round, try to send them one of your other squares from another partner so we each get a different square for the next round. (I hope that makes sense, please say something if it is too confusing)

As the rounds progress and the squares get bigger, we will use this instruction:
Before and after you add your row, measure the square. Once the square gets to be 10", mail it to the owner (a tag should still be safety pinned to the center) and send your partner a "new" starter square (see directions above).

Everyone crochets differently, so some squares might come home sooner than others. That is ok, our goal is 10 inch squares. If your square comes home and it is NOT 10 inches yet, feel free to add another row and send it along as if it is someone else's square. That is bound to happen since partners are assigned randomly by the computer.

Any questions, please send me a message. Newbies welcome, but please no flakers. If you have a rating less than 5.0 please send me a message with explanation. We want swappers that will keep the squares flowing. I am opening this up to International to hopefully attract some more crocheters.

Is it weird that I already made mine and they are ready to send?

LOL...I am SO ready for this swap. I have a plastic storage tote filled with granny's daughters! I have an afghan pattern that you crochet together using these.

how would I know if my yarn is Worsted Weight Yarn? some of my yarn doenst have its label anymore. ( and some of my yarn label just dont tell you anything usefull)

bluecrayons 03/13/2013 #

what if we was in round 1 and dont have all of our beginners to add this round too?

EvetteOgden 03/14/2013 #

@bluecrayons I see what you mean. The deadline was today for sending on Round #1. The starter squares should arrive (we hope) by the send date for this 2nd round (Apr 1). If not, please let me know ASAP. Either you can send another starter (the more you start, the more will hopefully come home someday), or I can angel. Send me a private message to let me know who it is and I will take care of it.

Also, can I just put my swapbot username? We are military and move quite often. Would hate to have a square mailed to an old address!

bluecrayons 03/16/2013 #

MamaMay 03/16/2013 #

That is great! I have mine in envies and ready to send! I will have to hit a post office though before I send, because I have one international partner.... Otherwise I would have mailed today!
