Steampunk Matchbox

Do you have to use an actual matchbox or do you mean that size?

Watching, though I love the idea.

Should this be filled with goodies? Most matchbox swaps specifiy.

I did not specify filled with goodies, merely a Steampunk made matchbox. It would be a nice gesture but not required in this swap. If you can make it match box size,it would be allright. I would suggest that if you don't use an actual matchbox, either make one from good heavy cereal box cardboard or very heavy (at least 110lb) cardstock, or something else sturdy, or use a same-size box made also very sturdy. I received a set of "drawers" form a matchbox swap once where the person had made the boxes out of paper, and by the time I got it, it was totally flat in the envelope. Very disappointing. It looked very pretty, but was useless and I had to throw it away.

All that said, real matchboxes are pretty cheap at Walmart--I got ten for less than a dollar, and just tossed the matches into our fireplace.

Your right about crushed matchboxes,had to throw 2 away myself. you can also go to the dollar store and they sell little tupperware type containers that are perfect for a match box. I think theyre 8 for a dollar.

I bought a box of about 40 on eBay a while back - it's kept me going for a while and I don't feel so guilty about throwing matches away :)
