Zazzle Postcard Swap!

Easy! Just send one postcard (naked, written on, stamped) you have purchased off zazzle to each of your partners. It doesn't have to be something you've made yourself, but zazzle cards of your own art are just fine!

I know there's a lot of hype about zazzle, and so many people "dislike" zazzle and constantly say "no zazzle" but honestly I don't understand why, because the postcards I purchase, or make off zazzle are often far prettier than the touristy postcards I pick up at the local truck stop.

Here's some tips to make great postcards on zazzle:

  • When you place your image on the postcard backing, you will see a red dotted line just inside the outside line. This means anything outside of that red line (not the outside line) is unsafe, meaning, if your image is over that red line it's probably going to be cut off. Make sure your entire piece of art AND words you want to be printed are INSIDE the red dotted lines and anything outside the red dotted lines are safe to be cut off.

  • Don't put a photo or artwork that is too small for the item you are making. How do you know? A yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears where it says "Add to Cart". This lets you know that your art will be pixelated and probably not look good at all when printed. Always make sure before you go to publish something, that it fits!

  • Also, don't stretch your art abnormally. Make sure that the same dimensions retain themselves at all times. This can be something that you do on your art program, there's usually a way to check a box so that when you make something larger or smaller, it stays in proportion. In photoshop, you would check the box that says "constrain proportions".

If you follow those guidelines, maybe we can start putting the glamour back into our zazzle cards and people won't be upset about getting them!

4.9 - Newbies welcome. No recent 1's or 3's for everyone else.

***IF you have a zazzle store, feel free to link us to it in the comment section so we can have a little look-see!

I am like you Druideye, I am perplexed as to why so many people don't like Zazzle. I have gotten so many cool cards from Zazzle that are much better quality that standard ones I buy. I will be joining, but I will wait until a little closer to the sign up deadline so I don't fill up my dashboard with swaps that are on the more distant horizon. I do have a question though. When I have cards of my own artwork made on Zazzle, I always remove the Zazzle logo on the back. Will those cards be okay for this swap or do they have to have the logo on them? Thanks for hosting!

What about cards made by other companies such as Redbubble and Cafรƒยฉ Press?

druideye 02/ 1/2013 #

@couchart that is perfectly fine. I do the same thing usually, and remove the zazzle logo but sometimes put my store address on them, or sometimes just my photography name.

@kirkproductions I've never had cards made by those companies but I'm sure they are lovely as well, but this swap is specifically for zazzle cards, sorry! รขโ„ขยฅ

Naked or in envie?

druideye 02/ 9/2013 #

@roxswapbot - I forgot to say that didn't I? It should be sent naked.

YAY!!! Thank you very much @druideye for starting this swap. I agree with all of you that like, and some times even prefer Zazzle postcards. They are always of good quality, and are actually, in my opinion, more fun because the sky's the limit with Zazzle...they have many different types of post cards. I'm joining this one, for sure! Thanks so much for this swap, and I hope there will be more in the future.

Just dropped my post cards into the post box a little while ago. I have never seen this before, but on the post box there was a handwritten message that any mail dropped into the box between today (Friday, 2/15) and Monday (2/18) will be post marked 2/19, due to the observance of President's Day (in the US) as well as ongoing slower delivery from last week's blizzard. So, I hope my partners will understand when they see the 2/19 postmark, even though I have marked sent today. I really did send them out today, and I apologize if it looks like I many not appear honest due to this discrepancy, but it is the truth and I hope my partners get their pcs very quickly after 2/19,. Thank you for understanding, everyone and Happy Swapping! :)
