BOM 2013 Treasure Hunt – de-stash USA, Canada

Since I believe in re-gifting, reusing, and recycling, and am getting ready to move soon (I need to down size a TON of stuff) I thought why not set-up a treasure hunt to de-stash? Anything I receive in this swap I will share with my quilting bee friends at church. They are beginner quilters and need everything!

Sadly since this package could end up being sizeable we will have to limit it to USA and Canada members only due to postage expense. If someone wants to set up an international swap like this one, please feel free to do so! You may even copy my list of items.

One partner to receive at least 3 of the items listed below but as many of them as you care to send. Be sure to label the items with the number of the line they go to. I’d say that if you sent something from each of these options you would deserve a heart because that would be a big package of treasure for someone to go thru. I love looking at other peoples de-stash treasures, and they often inspire me to create something new for myself!

SENDERS send good useable stuff, not the stuff you should have thrown out, but things someone could use for a new project.

KEEP IN MIND: A $5.00 postage sized package for the base on this swap, however if senders care to send a bigger, more expensive package, that is their option.

RECIPIENTS rate fairly. Remember this is a de-stash treasure hunt. If you get something you can’t use you can always share it with someone else.

1. --two or more orphan quilt blocks (left over blocks from your projects, not the defective ones either)

2. --two or more fat quarters of 100% cotton quilting fabric

3. --two or more quilt blocks ready to assemble (all the pieces ready to be sewn together)

4. --embroidery patterns (these could be opened packages of iron-on embroidery patterns part of which you’ve used and the rest have not been transferred) This could also be new unused patterns you won’t ever get around to using, or maybe you have duplicate patterns and only need one.

5. --embroidery (includes cross stitch) projects you’ve started and not finished, be sure to include the floss if there are specific colors that go with the project (throw in an embroidery needle for good measure)

6. --2 or more partial cards of buttons (you’ve used one of the buttons and there are at least one or more left on each card) this could also be 1 bag of mixed buttons (minimum of 4 buttons total)

7. --partial packages of good sewing needles (hand or machine) at least one package of 2 or more needles

8. --sandwich bag of useable fabric scraps (examples: strips 1 1/2”X4” or larger or squares of 4”x4” or larger) fill the bag as full as you can of 100% cotton quilting fabric (if you send bigger than 4”X4” the scraps do not have to be square)

9. --maybe you have a small sewing or quilting project you’ve started and won’t ever finish, be sure you have all the parts, patterns, fabric, and pieces before sending this one to someone (if it’s missing a part, please don’t send it)

10. --2 larger leftover cuts of fabric you will never use (don’t send that piece that has a flaw in it you should have thrown away) send as many as you want of these but at least 2

11. --maybe you bought an iron on patch or decal or have embellishments you won’t ever get around to using send 1 patch or a snack bag of embellishments

12. --a sewing tool, bag, box or basket (needle threader, seam ripper, thimble, zippered pouch, sewing tote, etc.)

If you think of something else that is still good you’d like to send please do so, but you must send at 3 of the items listed above.
