The Hugo Awards ATC's #3
Blink was written by Steven Moffat.
This episode finds the Doctor, and his companion, Martha Jones trapped in the year 1969. The Doctor tries to warn a young woman, Sally Sparrow how to prevent the Weeping Angels from taking control of the TARDIS. In order to help the Doctor, Sally and her best friend’s brother, Larry Nightingale must make the connection between seventeen separate DVD titles, each containing the same cryptic Easter Egg.
In the UK Blink was seen by 6.62 million viewers and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. This episode is based on a previous short story written by Moffat for the 2006 Doctor Who Annual, “What I Did on My Christmas Holidays” by Sally Sparrow.
Although this story is “Doctor Lite” this episode is the first time Doctor Who fans encounter the Weeping Angels, and is the first time “The Angels Have The Phone Box”, and the Timey-wimey detector.
How popular are the Weeping Angels? In a 2012 poll over ten thousand respondants conducted by the Radio Times were again voted the best Doctor Who monster with 49.4% vote.
