Okay, okay...I just really like the round robins where you get some of everyone's work....

Look HERE for the Inspiration

And HERE

For this swap we will each create a 5x7 postcard. It must be sturdy enough to mail (you know the drill-lightweight cardboard or heavy cardstock).

  • Once we know how many people are playing, you will make that many spaces on one side of your card and number them.
  • You will create your art in the first space.
  • On the other side of your card address the postcard to you. Don't add stamps, but leave enough room.
  • In the note section you can write a note to your partners and leave them room to add their information so you know who worked on each section.
  • Then mail it to your partner in an envelope.
  • Your card will continue along, being worked on by each player.
  • The last player will fill in the last space, add postage and mail it back to you.

Please ask any questions below. I will set up a forum page for this round robin too so we can keep track of the progress.

Have Fun!!

Your spaces don't have to be strata like Tofu's. Boxes or whatever are okay.

fun!

great idea! I did a layer of a tofu card. I love collaborative projects.

GinaVisione 08/10/2012 #

What if 20 people sign up? (always the optimist :D) squares are great, but may not give enough space from each person...? Unless doing a artistamp or rubber stamp carving? Tofu's project was fun! Sorry, new kid questions!

If we have tons of people maybe we can make the card a little bigger, but there aren't THAT many of us Supermailartists out there... :)

Angie 08/10/2012 #

Especially if it's being mailed in an envelope, it cal always be 10 x 14 and folded in half to the 5 x 7 postcard. Love the swap!

It would have to be re-engineered though with regards to address location etc. to be able to go naked for the last trip if we were to make it that big. I'm thinking that at 6x8 it will still be able to go at the regular envelope rate in a handmade envelope....and then go naked for the last bit.

CARROLL 08/11/2012 #

We could always make each person have 4 or 6 partners, then the spaces on the card wouldn't be too small.

FarStarr 08/11/2012 #

True, @Carroll but then we would have to self-assign partners instead of relying on swapbot. Do-able, but harder to track. Let's wait and see how many we end up with and make a decision then. Wait! I figured it out....We could just use swapbot's partner assignment, you could determine how many spaces you want, and then your card would just come back to you when the spaces are full...Hmmmm...that could work.

I just want to say that I would love to do a round robin like this where the object being worked on was a file folder. It's a clumsy thing on my part: I just can't work in the small space allotted on a Tofu-style project. How about a file folder, both inside and out?

FiWebster 08/22/2012 #

For another swap, not this one, is what I meant.

FarStarr 08/23/2012 #

@melusina That will work for another swap. I love the ones where we get to share!

FarStarr 08/23/2012 #

Okay, Here's the final deal.... I started a FORUM THREAD to keep track of this one and clarify the rules. Please go to the thread before starting your postcard.

Just for the record, I have an idea for another multi-participant mail art piece. It is on the drawing board, but it might be a few months before this one goes out.

We're always game... :)
