The inaugural Fandom in a Bag swap (June 2012) will be a broad fandom to get the ball rolling: the Whedonverse. Anything Joss Whedon has created/worked on is fair game: from Buffy to the new Avengers. Step 1: Please list in the comments what Joss Whedon fandoms you DO want to receive goodies for:
Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what parts of the Whedonverse your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more (like your partner's favorite characters). Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that match any or all of those. Your bag must contain at least 7 items although more is certainly encouraged. If you want to stick with one fandom within the Whedonverse, that's fine, as long as it's on your partner's list. Or if you want to have items for a few or even all of the fandoms on your partner's list, that's also fine. Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, charms, ornaments, address labels, etc. More ideas: Giles-inspired bookmarks, Sunnydale high bumper sticker, Dingoes Ate My Baby set list, Angel Investigations business card, pylean dance instruction card, a mini zine or comic, fanfiction drabble/ficlet, Firely-inspired fortune cookie with fortune, dinosaur toys, knitted Jayne hat, personalized acceptance letter from Bad Horse, Freeze Ray blueprints, quarters for the machines at the laundromat, tie-in novels, personalized letter from the Avengers asking your partner to join the team, lists/cards with your favorite Whedon quotes... you get the idea by now, right? Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to. Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 gallon. You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a gallon in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag and it should close. Assemble your bags during the month of June and please send by the deadline (July 7; giving you some extra time because this is our first one and because of the holiday at the beginning of July for all US swappers). NO FLAKING ALLOWED! I will set a vamp on you. And not a soul-having one either. |
