Wanna Try Thread Crochet?

Hi all- I'm currently hosting the Finer things crochet swap, and in the process have discovered that some people feel a little intimidated by thread crochet, or would like to try but just haven't gotten around to it. So this swap is for you to try it out, and the good news is if you make the world's ugliest doily, you get to send it far, far away to someone who doesn't know you! (However, don't let that stop you from trying for cuteness!)

So here are The Rules:

1. International

2. 4.5 rating or higher

3. newbies will be approved or banned on an individual basis based on profile.

4. Only thread crochet items should be made, not things made in yarn. You could make a small doily, a snowflake, a sachet, a Christmas-tree sized angel... check out crochetpatterncentral.com for a lot of freebie patterns.

5. It's the sender's choice as to which item they are going to make, but we should probably keep the item small to avoid anyone feeling like they put SO much work into something and got little in return. Again though, try to make the nicest item you can!

6. More experienced crocheters are very, very welcome too!

That's pretty much it. I have only one bit of advice for first-timers, which is that when you pick your project, you may have an easier time with size 10 thread than something requiring size 20 or gasp 30. I learned this the hard way, and just wanted to share that with you!

PS- The items I listed are just suggestions of what you could make. You may choose to crochet an item not listed in The Rules.
