Description:

A while back I did a swap for a granny mandala , and it was a lot of fun to do. So I thought it would be fun to do another swap, and that it would make a great springtime project.

What is a Granny Mandala you ask? You may have heard of a Mandala- which means circle, and usually is made up of various designs and colors. For a Granny mandala, you basically crochet a circle, using the “granny “ technique, and many colors, which gives you a very pretty rainbow type effect when finished.

For this swap we will be starting small, by making a Basic Granny Mandala Potholder.

You will have one partner and will make them one potholder. You will be using this tutorial:

Potholder

The tutorial doesn’t say what type of yarn to use, but most potholder patterns I have seen, use cotton, as it will stand up to the heat of a hot pot.

So for this swap we will use cotton to make the potholder (the kind used for dishcloths, nothing fancy unless you want to)

The tutorial also shows 7 colors for the potholder front, and white for the back, Since we may not have that may colors in our stash, and I can‘t see going out and buying that many colors, unless you want to, so let‘s say-

you will need to use at least 3 different colors for the front, BUT you can use more if you like, and you can use any color of your choosing for the back

This will be senders choice on colors, BUT it is always nice to look at your partners profile to see what they may like

I hope you had a chance to look through the website, (links to other projects) and that you liked what you saw, I think the mandala’s are great and such pretty colors. Lots of ideas too, if this swap goes well I can see the potential for future swaps.

This is open to ALL group members, so be aware that you could potentially get an international partner.

I will be checking all participants to make sure you are in good standing. Since this is a group swap there shouldn’t be any flaking

I think I have given you plenty of time to accomplish your potholder, so sending late will not be tolerated

I understand things happen, and if an emergency does arise please be in contact with me, and your partner so we can work things out, and as always I will angel if needed.

I hope you enjoy the swap.

This sounds like fun... should be interested (and completely new to me), lol :)

I was reading through the directions for the Granny mandala potholder and I just want to clarify a few things. First of all the front of the potholder is the mandala, and you will need to use the tutorial link for the Granny Mandala, at the side of the page, the directions on the actual page are for the back of the potholder. I also didn't give a size for the potholder but I think about 8 inches is a good size, you can make it bigger if you like. Also if you have trouble with the magic ring( I know I do ) you can start with a chain 4, then double crochet in 4th chain from hook, and continue to double crochet in this chain until you have the desired amount of stitches(counting the 3 chains, you skipped at the begining, as a stitch). You will need to pull the end tight, and weave it in at the back to keep your stitches from coming loose. If you have any question please ask and I will do my best to answer them.

@ rebs64, its was not done correctly, so I had no choice than to rate a 3. Had it been, even though it was late & you did message me that it would have been rated a 5. I don't have hard feelings with you.
